About the Role

We are looking for a Food Science & Technology Expert to support community-based food processing, value addition, product development, quality improvement and entrepreneurship initiatives in Sikkim.

Key Responsibilities

- Work with local communities and entrepreneurs on food processing and value-added food products.
- Support development and improvement of food products using locally available resources.
- Provide technical guidance on food processing, preservation, packaging, storage and quality control.
- Assist in developing standard processes and basic SOPs for food products.
- Support product testing, shelf-life improvement and quality assessment.
- Conduct practical training and demonstrations for community members, SHGs and entrepreneurs.
- Help identify opportunities for value addition, market readiness and commercialisation of local food products.
- Maintain project records, technical reports and documentation.
- Coordinate with field teams, local institutions and other stakeholders.
- Undertake field visits as required.





Educational Qualification

- M.Sc./M.Tech./B.Tech./B.Sc. in Food Science & Technology, Food Technology, Food Processing, Food Engineering, or a related field.
- Candidates with relevant specialisation or practical experience in food processing and product development will be preferred.

Experience

- 1–3 years of relevant experience in food processing, product development, quality control, food technology, incubation, community-based projects or a related field.
- Freshers with strong practical knowledge and willingness to work in field-based projects may also be considered.

Skills Required

- Good knowledge of food processing and preservation techniques.
- Understanding of food safety, hygiene, packaging and quality standards.
- Practical and problem-solving approach.
- Good communication and training skills.
- Willingness to travel and work closely with rural communities.
- Ability to prepare basic reports and documentation.
- Knowledge of local food products and Himalayan/NE food resources will be an advantage.
