We're looking for a Marketing & Distribution Manager to own the distribution and natural growth of our apps.
This isn't a traditional social media management role.
Your job is to figure out where the users are, how to reach them naturally, and what makes them care about a product.
You'll work across content, communities, directories, creators, social platforms, launches and experiments to build repeatable distribution systems for our apps.
What you'll do
- Develop organic distribution strategies for new and existing apps.
- Find relevant communities, audiences, creators, websites and platforms where our apps can naturally fit.
- Create and distribute content across platforms such as X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit, YouTube, Telegram and WhatsApp.
- Turn product features and use cases into interesting posts, stories, memes, carousels, short videos and other formats.
- Find creative ways to get the first users for newly launched products.
- Submit products to relevant app directories, launch platforms and communities.
- Research competitors and understand how similar products acquire users.
- Experiment with different positioning, hooks, formats and distribution channels.
- Work with the product/build team to understand what we're shipping and who it is for.
- Track installs, clicks, engagement and other meaningful distribution metrics.
- Identify channels that work and turn successful experiments into repeatable processes.
- Help launch current apps from 0 → first users → early traction.
- Build a distribution playbook that can be reused across future Outlayer Labs products.
What we're looking for
- Strong understanding of how people discover products online.
- Good writing and communication skills.
- Ability to create content that feels human, useful and native to the platform rather than obvious advertising.
- Comfortable researching communities and finding unconventional distribution opportunities.
- Understanding of platforms such as X, Instagram, Reddit, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Telegram, YouTube or similar.
- Willingness to experiment and learn from results.
- Basic design/video/content creation skills are a plus.
- Analytical mindset — you should care about what actually drives users, not just likes.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership.
You might be a great fit if...You naturally notice things like:
“People are already complaining about this problem on Reddit.”“This app could work really well with this type of creator.”“There are 20 directories where we can list this product.”“This feature could become a good short-form video.”“Nobody is talking about this angle yet.”
That's the kind of thinking we're looking for.
What we don't want
- Someone who only wants to schedule posts.
- Generic AI-generated social media content.
- Vanity metrics without actual users.
- Copy-paste promotional posts everywhere.
- Waiting for someone to tell you exactly what to do.
- Marketing that feels like an advertisement in every sentence.
How we'll measure successThe goal isn't followers.
We'll care about
- Organic installs
- Product page visits
- Qualified traffic
- User activation
- Content-driven installs
- Community/creator placements
- Directory and discovery listings
- Successful experiments
- New distribution channels discovered
- Repeatable growth systems
