The ideal candidate should have strong practical knowledge of SolidWorks and mechanical machine design, along with the ability to create 3D models, detailed 2D manufacturing drawings, assemblies, BOMs and perform design calculations and simulations.

The person should be able to work closely with our Tool Room, CNC/VMC, machining, fabrication, assembly and production teams and ensure that designs are practical, accurate, manufacturable and cost-effective.

Key Responsibilities1. Machine Design & Development

- Design and develop complete machines, machine assemblies and mechanical systems.
- Develop concepts based on customer requirements, existing machine designs and internal development requirements.
- Create detailed 3D models and complete machine assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Design individual machine components such as shafts, housings, brackets, frames, mechanisms, gears, pulleys, bearing arrangements, pneumatic components and other mechanical parts.
- Modify and improve existing machine designs for performance, reliability, ease of manufacturing and cost reduction.
- Develop new machine features and engineering solutions wherever required.

1. CAD & Engineering Drawings

- Prepare accurate 2D manufacturing and fabrication drawings from 3D models.
- Generate assembly drawings, exploded views and detailed component drawings.
- Prepare accurate dimensions, tolerances, fits, GD&T;, surface-finish requirements and material specifications.
- Prepare and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) and complete technical documentation.
- Maintain drawing revisions and ensure the latest approved drawings are available for production.
- Ensure drawings are practical and suitable for machining, fabrication and assembly.

1. Design Calculations & Simulation

- Perform basic mechanical engineering calculations for components and assemblies.
- Use SolidWorks Simulation / FEA / Motion Simulation, wherever applicable, to validate designs.
- Conduct stress, deformation, load,

motion and interference/clearance checks as required.
- Identify potential design failures before manufacturing.
- Use engineering analysis to improve strength, reliability, cycle time and overall machine performance.
- Coordinate with senior engineers or external specialists for advanced analysis where required.

1. Tool Room & Mould Design

- Support the design and development of injection moulds, blow moulds, mould components, tooling, jigs and fixtures.
- Understand mould construction, machining requirements and tool-room manufacturing processes.
- Prepare 3D models and detailed drawings of mould components and tooling.
- Work closely with the Tool Room during machining, fitting, assembly and trials.
- Modify mould/tool designs based on trial results, dimensional issues or production requirements.
- Ensure tooling designs are manufacturable and practical for available CNC/VMC, EDM, grinding and other processes.

1. Manufacturing & Shop-Floor Support

- Work closely with production and tool-room personnel during manufacturing and assembly.
- Resolve design-related problems encountered during machining, fabrication and assembly.
- Visit the shop floor regularly to understand actual manufacturing challenges.
- Make design modifications based on practical manufacturing feedback.
- Ensure designs follow Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
- Support prototype development, machine assembly, testing and trials.

1. Component Selection & Vendor Coordination

- Select suitable standard components such as bearings, linear guides, couplings, fasteners, pneumatic components, motors, gearboxes, belts, pulleys and other mechanical items.
- Prepare technical specifications for purchased components.
- Coordinate with suppliers/vendors for technical drawings, specifications and component requirements.
- Evaluate alternative components for cost, availability and performance.

1. Testing, Troubleshooting & Improvement

- Participate in machine and mould trials.
- Identify and resolve design-related issues during testing and commissioning.
- Analyze failures and implement corrective design changes.

- Improve existing products based on field feedback and production experience.
- Maintain records of design changes and improvements.

Required Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on knowledge of SolidWorks.
- Strong understanding of 3D part modelling and large machine assemblies.
- Good knowledge of 2D engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of GD&T;, tolerances, fits and engineering standards.
- Understanding of machining, CNC/VMC, turning, milling, grinding, EDM, fabrication and welding processes.
- Knowledge of machine design principles and mechanical components.
- Basic knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Understanding of material selection and manufacturing feasibility.
- Knowledge of SolidWorks Simulation / FEA / Motion Simulation is preferred.
- Knowledge of mould/tool design will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD is an advantage.

Candidate Profile
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Tool Engineering or related field.
- Preferably 3–7 years of experience in mechanical design, machine design, tooling or machinery manufacturing.
- Experience in machinery manufacturing, automation, plastic machinery, moulds, tooling, or similar engineering industries will be preferred.
- Must be comfortable working with both CAD software and the manufacturing/shop floor.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Positive attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to independently take a design from concept to manufacturing.
- Good communication and coordination skills.

What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is more than a CAD operator. The ideal candidate should understand how a machine works, why a component is designed in a particular way, how it will be manufactured, how it will be assembled, and how its performance can be validated before it goes into production.

The candidate should be willing to work closely with the Tool Room and manufacturing team, learn from shop-floor experience and continuously improve our machine and tooling designs.
