As part of the Patalganga Expansion User Management team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that new recovery process installations are designed, delivered, and commissioned to meet business, operational, quality, safety, and performance requirements. The role & your impact
As CAPEX User Lead – Recovery, you will serve as the user representative for medium and complex capital projects related to downstream recovery processes and equipment. Working closely with engineering, operations, maintenance, process development, automation, quality, and EHS stakeholders, you will ensure that project solutions deliver the intended operational outcomes from concept through commissioning and handover. The role combines technical leadership, stakeholder management, and strategic contribution to future recovery technology and capacity development plans.
Your Key Responsibilities In This Role
- Lead recovery-related user activities throughout the project lifecycle, from project definition through operational handover.
- Define, maintain, and approve User Requirement Specifications, Installation Requirement Specifications, design criteria, and acceptance requirements.
- Support project justification, investment approval activities, and development of project charters and business cases.
- Review process concepts, layouts, PFDs, P&IDs;, equipment specifications, automation functionality, and operating concepts.
- Support equipment sizing, process design, hygienic design, reliability, maintainability, and safe operation principles.
- Coordinate technical and operational input from cross-functional stakeholders including Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, Automation, and Process Development.
- Participate in risk assessments, HAZOP reviews, FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities.
- Evaluate project performance, support handover activities, and contribute to future recovery technology and capacity development initiatives.
What You'll Need To Be Successful In This Role
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
- More than 10 years of relevant technical experience, including significant experience with downstream recovery processes.
- At least 5 years of experience within production, process engineering, or CAPEX project execution.
- Strong knowledge of downstream bioprocessing, recovery operations, process equipment, and production interfaces.
- Experience with equipment sizing, PFDs, P&IDs;, automation systems, risk assessments, FAT, SAT, commissioning, and project handover processes.
- Knowledge of hygienic design, food safety, quality systems, EHS requirements, and relevant regulatory expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate, influence, and build alignment across multiple functions and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Additional Skills & Interests We Value
- Experience working within biotechnology, fermentation, food, ingredient, or related process industries.
- Experience supporting large-scale facility expansions or brownfield CAPEX projects.
- Interest in emerging recovery technologies and continuous improvement opportunities.
