Job Title: Automotive Electronics Lab Technician
Job Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Automotive Electronics Lab Technician to support hardware development, testing, debugging, prototype build, rework, and day-to-day laboratory operations. The role will be responsible for maintaining the electronics lab, handling and maintaining test equipment, supporting hardware bring-up and validation activities, managing lab components and inventory, and ensuring proper audit, calibration, ESD, safety, and housekeeping practices. The candidate should have strong practical skills in PCB handling, soldering, component replacement, and board-level rework.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain day-to-day operation, housekeeping, organization, and 5S standards of the electronics hardware laboratory.
- Handle, operate, and maintain laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, multimeters, function generators, logic analyzers, power analyzers, soldering stations, hot-air rework stations, and other test equipment.
- Support hardware bring-up, board testing, debugging, measurement, validation, and troubleshooting activities for automotive ECUs and electronic prototypes.
- Perform PCB assembly support, component replacement, through-hole and SMD soldering, desoldering, connector replacement, jumper modification, and board-level rework.
- Perform visual inspection of PCBs, connectors, cables, components, and prototype assemblies and report abnormalities or damage.
- Prepare test setups, connect measurement equipment, cables, probes, loads, fixtures, and harnesses as per test requirements.
- Support engineers during electrical characterization, functional testing, interface testing, power-up/down testing, and hardware validation.
- Maintain proper ESD protection and handling practices for sensitive electronic components and assemblies.
- Manage lab component inventory including ICs, passive components, connectors, cables, PCB assemblies, development boards, adapters, fixtures, and consumables.
- Maintain component records, stock levels, identification/labeling, storage locations, issue/return records,
and obsolete or damaged component segregation.
- Conduct periodic lab component audits and reconcile physical stock with inventory records; identify shortages, excess, obsolete, or untraceable items.
- Maintain equipment records including asset identification, ownership, location, service status, calibration status, and preventive-maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, repair, and service activities and ensure calibration labels/status are up to date.
- Maintain laboratory documentation including equipment logs, calibration certificates, test setup records, component audit reports, rework records, and maintenance logs.
- Support procurement of laboratory equipment, components, consumables, cables, connectors, soldering materials, and other development accessories.
- Ensure safe handling and storage of soldering/rework equipment, chemicals, batteries, power supplies, and other laboratory materials.
- Support preparation and organization of prototype hardware for internal reviews, customer demonstrations, testing, transportation, and project activities.
- Follow applicable laboratory safety, ESD, quality, and engineering procedures and immediately report unsafe conditions or equipment issues.

- Maintain technical documentation, development records, and system architecture information.
- Use version control systems such as Git for code management and collaboration.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated with emerging AI technologies, automation frameworks, and software development trends.
- Contribute ideas for improving existing tools and developing new automation capabilities.
Project Delivery
- Deliver assigned features and projects within timelines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, testing, and cross-functional teams to support business objectives.
