We’re hiring: Audio Story Producer / Sound Designer | Chariot
Can you take a written story and turn it into an audio experience that people want to keep listening to?
At Chariot, we’re looking for a hands-on Audio Story Producer who can independently create compelling audio stories, from adaptation and voice production to sound design and final delivery.
You’ll work with public-domain stories and other approved material, using professional audio tools and AI-assisted workflows, including Chariot’s tools.
What you’ll do
- Select suitable stories and develop a explicit creative approach for each adaptation.
- Adapt written material into an audio-ready script, deciding what to narrate, dramatize, shorten or express through sound.
- Select and direct voices, including AI-generated performances, with attention to emotion, pronunciation and character consistency.
- Build the sonic world with music, ambience, Foley, effects and intentional silence.
- Edit dialogue and shape the pacing so scenes feel natural and emotionally engaging.
- Mix and master the complete story, keeping speech clear and the listening experience consistent.
- Review the final audio and deliver polished, publish-ready files.
- Own planning, production, revisions and delivery.
- Collaborate with the team,
respond to editorial feedback and improve your production workflow.
Who we’re looking for
- Experience producing narrative audio: audio dramas, audiobooks, podcasts, radio fiction, dubbing or similar work.
- Strong sound-design, dialogue-editing, mixing and critical-listening skills.
- Proficiency in a professional audio editor such as Reaper, Pro Tools, Logic or Adobe Audition.
- The storytelling judgment to adapt written material and direct voices, alongside the technical ability to finish the audio.
- Strong Hindi and English listening skills, including natural Hinglish delivery.
- Comfort using AI voice and audio tools, evaluating their output and correcting what doesn’t work.
- Curiosity about new tools and the ability to learn unfamiliar workflows.
- The ability to start from a story and independently deliver the finished piece.
What success looks like
Compelling audio adaptations, believable performances, thoughtful sound design and consistent delivery.
To apply
Share two or three relevant audio samples and explain what you personally handled: adaptation, voices, editing, sound design or mixing. Include one example where you owned the complete production.
