TITLE: Associate Director – Physician Billing Operations
Location: Mohali / Jaipur
Experience: 12–18 Years
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly accomplished and strategic Associate Director – Physician Billing Operations to lead large-scale Physician Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) operations. The role will be responsible for driving operational excellence, revenue optimization, client satisfaction, organizational growth, and leadership development across Physician Billing functions.
The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Physician Billing, Accounts Receivable (AR), Denial Management, Revenue Cycle Operations, Client Management, Operational Governance, and Team Leadership. The incumbent will lead multiple operational teams, manage key client relationships, and drive business outcomes through innovation, process excellence, and robust leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Lead end-to-end Physician Billing operations across multiple specialties and client accounts.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to improve revenue realization, operational efficiency, and client satisfaction.
- Drive achievement of key operational, quality, productivity, and financial targets.
- Establish governance frameworks and conduct regular operational reviews with leadership teams.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align operational objectives with organizational goals.
- Support business growth, transitions, and expansion initiatives.
Accounts Receivable & Revenue Cycle Management
- Oversee large Physician AR portfolios across Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial Payers.
- Drive strategies to reduce AR aging, improve collections, and maximize reimbursement outcomes.
- Lead Denial Management and Appeals teams to improve recovery rates and reduce revenue leakage.
- Monitor key revenue cycle metrics including:
o AR Aging o Days in AR o Collection Effectiveness o Net Collection Ratio o Denial Rate o First Pass Resolution o Recovery Rate o Productivity & Quality Metrics
- Analyze trends and implement corrective actions for operational and financial improvements.
- Ensure compliance with all payer guidelines and reimbursement regulations.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as a senior leader for strategic client engagements and operational governance.
- Lead Monthly Business Reviews (MBRs), Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), and executive client meetings.
- Present operational performance, revenue insights, improvement initiatives, and business strategies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
- Manage escalations proactively and ensure timely resolution.
- Support account growth, renewals, and client retention initiatives.
Leadership & People Management
- Lead large operational teams through Senior Managers, Managers, Assistant Managers, and Team Leads.
- Drive organization-wide workforce planning, capacity management, and talent development initiatives.
- Establish leadership development and succession planning programs.
- Conduct performance reviews and mentor future leaders within the organization.
- Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Lead employee engagement and retention strategies.
Process Excellence & Transformation
- Drive automation, transformation, and operational excellence initiatives across Physician Billing functions.
- Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and best-in-class industry practices.
- Partner with Technology, Reporting, Quality, and Training teams to optimize workflows and improve outcomes.
- Lead process migrations, transitions, and business transformation projects.
- Standardize processes and ensure effective governance mechanisms.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, and Commercial Payer regulations.
- Maintain audit readiness and support internal and external audits.
- Monitor operational risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure adherence to client-specific compliance and quality requirements.
- Drive continuous compliance awareness across operational teams.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate in any discipline
- Preferred:
o MBA / PGDM o Healthcare Management o Hospital Administration o Business Administration
- Certifications in Revenue Cycle Management, Lean Six Sigma, Project Management, CPC, CPB, or related disciplines will be an added advantage.
DESIRED CANDIDATE PROFILE
- 12–18 years of experience in US Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management.
- Minimum 8–10 years of experience in Physician Billing and Accounts Receivable Operations.
- Strong expertise in:
o Physician Billing o Accounts Receivable Management o AR Follow-up o Denial Management o Appeals & Reconsiderations o Charge Entry o Payment Posting o Revenue Recovery & Collections o Medicare & Medicaid Regulations o Commercial Insurance Billing
- Experience managing multiple physician specialties and complex payer environments.
- Proven leadership experience managing large operational teams of 450+ FTEs.
- Strong track record of improving collections, reducing AR aging, and driving profitability.
- Experience managing client-facing engagements and executive stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent analytical, communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated success in operational transformation and scalable business growth.
- Strong organizational development and people leadership capabilities.
