Career Level 9IC The Associate Director owns the actuarial modelling function and is accountable for the integrity, governance and strategic direction of the models underpinning valuation, ALM and capital reporting. You will lead a team of qualified and part-qualified actuaries, setting the modelling roadmap, prioritising the book of work across reporting cycles, and holding review and sign-off accountability for model changes, assumption updates and results delivered to onshore actuarial leadership.
The role carries clear ownership of model risk: maintaining the control and documentation framework, ensuring changes are validated and audit-ready, and representing the modelling estate to internal governance forums, audit and regulatory reviews. Alongside the run agenda you will drive transformation, targeting material reductions in model complexity and run time, expanding automation across the end-to-end process,
and building out Python-based analytics capability for asset and liability work. You will act as a senior partner to US actuarial, finance and risk stakeholders, translating business questions into modelling solutions and influencing methodology decisions rather than executing them.
We are looking for a qualified actuary with substantial post-qualification experience in life or retirement modelling, a track record of leading teams and owning delivery at scale, credibility in model governance, and the presence to operate as a trusted counterpart to senior onshore leadership.
