Kefilo is building a Farm-to-Plate ecosystem to create stronger control over the sourcing, quality, processing, traceability and commercialisation of food and agricultural produce used across its products and nutrition systems.
Role Overview
We are looking for an Agriculture & Farm-to-Plate Expert who can build and lead Kefilo’s capabilities across the complete farm-to-plate value chain.
The role will focus on developing practical projects and business opportunities around agricultural sourcing, farmer networks, aggregation, trading, processing, storage, quality management and value-added food products.
This is not a conventional agriculture advisory role. We are looking for someone with hands-on understanding of how farm produce moves from farmers and producers through sourcing, aggregation, trading and processing into commercially viable food products.
Key Responsibilities1. Farm-to-Plate Strategy
- Build Kefilo’s Farm-to-Plate strategy and operating model.
- Identify agricultural categories and produce relevant to Kefilo’s NutritionTech and food ecosystem.
- Identify opportunities to create value from farm produce through sourcing, processing, standardisation and product development.
- Develop scalable models that can be replicated across regions.
- Agricultural Sourcing & Procurement
- Build direct and indirect sourcing channels for agricultural produce.
- Develop relationships with farmers, FPOs, cooperatives, aggregators, traders and agricultural businesses.
- Identify reliable sources based on quality, quantity, seasonality, pricing and consistency.
- Develop sourcing specifications and procurement standards.
- Build systems for traceability from farm/source to processing and final product.
- Agricultural Trading
- Develop understanding and commercial opportunities across agricultural commodity trading.
- Evaluate procurement prices, market prices, margins, seasonality and supply-demand patterns.
- Identify opportunities for aggregation, bulk procurement and structured trading.
- Develop supplier and buyer networks.
- Explore B2B opportunities for sourcing and distribution of agricultural produce.
- Farm & Farmer Network Development
- Identify suitable farming clusters, FPOs, farmer groups and agricultural communities.
- Build long-term relationships with producers.
- Develop models for organised sourcing and procurement.
- Explore contract farming and structured farmer partnerships where commercially viable.
- Develop mechanisms for quality assurance, supply commitments and traceability.
- Processing & Value Addition
- Identify agricultural produce that can be converted into higher-value food products.
- Develop opportunities across cleaning, grading, sorting, milling, drying, dehydration, extraction, fermentation and other relevant processing methods.
- Work with Kefilo’s Food Science and Food Processing teams to convert raw materials into standardised products.
- Identify opportunities to reduce wastage and improve utilisation of agricultural produce.
- Support development of scalable processing models.
- Farm-to-Plate Projects
- Identify, design and execute pilot projects within the Farm-to-Plate ecosystem.
- Develop projects around specific crops, ingredients, agricultural clusters or geographic regions.
- Build pilot models covering sourcing → aggregation → processing → product development → commercialisation.
- Establish project economics, operational requirements and measurable outcomes.
- Convert successful pilots into scalable business models.
- Quality, Traceability & Supply Chain
- Develop quality standards for agricultural raw materials.
- Define specifications for moisture, size, grade, purity, contamination, freshness and other relevant parameters.
- Build traceability systems across the supply chain.
- Work with testing laboratories and quality teams where required.
- Develop systems to monitor supply consistency and raw-material quality.
- Market & Business Development
- Identify recent agricultural products, ingredients and markets relevant to Kefilo.
- Evaluate commercial opportunities across sourcing, trading, processing and value-added products.
- Develop partnerships with processors, manufacturers, traders, distributors and institutional buyers.
- Identify opportunities for B2B and B2C agricultural/food products.
- Support pricing, margins, unit economics and commercialisation.
- Agriculture Technology & Innovation
- Identify technologies that can improve agricultural sourcing, processing, traceability and supply-chain efficiency.
- Explore precision agriculture, post-harvest technology, storage, processing and supply-chain technologies where relevant.
- Build collaborations with agricultural universities, research institutions, government organisations and agri-tech companies.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, R&D; and proprietary processes.
- Integration with Kefilo
- Work closely with Kefilo’s Food Scientists, Food Processing Experts, Nutritionists, Product Owners and R&D; team.
- Connect agricultural raw materials with Kefilo’s Nutrition Intelligence and food product development ecosystem.
- Identify ingredients and produce with nutritional, functional and commercial value.
- Support development of standardised food products and ingredients for Kefilo’s future manufacturing ecosystem.

Ideal Candidate
- Strong experience in agriculture, agri-business, food supply chain, agricultural trading, procurement or food processing.
- Hands-on experience dealing with agricultural produce and producers.
- Existing network among farmers, FPOs, aggregators, traders, processors or agricultural institutions is highly valuable.
- Strong understanding of agricultural commodity economics and market dynamics.
- Experience in sourcing, procurement, trading and/or processing of farm produce.
- Ability to build projects from concept to field-level execution.
- Commercial mindset with understanding of margins, pricing, supply economics and scalability.
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Experience developing agricultural or food businesses is an advantage.
- Willingness to work directly with field-level stakeholders and travel for projects when required.

Engagement
- Equity-only founding team position
- Approximately 20–25 hours/week
- Remote / hybrid, with field visits and travel as required for projects
- No fixed salary at the current stage
- Fixed compensation after funding and revenue stabilisation

- 5-year vesting structure for core founding team members
