Job Description / Responsibilities

The Vice President Projects will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall direction for the execution of utility-scale Solar, Wind, Hybrid, BESS, Green Hydrogen, Green Ammonia and other renewable energy projects across India. The role involves overseeing the complete project lifecycle—from project planning and engineering through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover—while ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, quality standards and safety requirements.

The VP – Projects will work closely with internal stakeholders, customers, regulatory authorities, EPC partners and contractors to drive project excellence and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Project Governance

- Develop and execute the long-term Projects strategy aligned with the Company's growth plans across Solar, Wind, BESS, Green Hydrogen, Green Ammonia and emerging businesses.
- Lead the overall execution of renewable energy projects across multiple locations, ensuring successful delivery from project award through commissioning and handover.
- Develop and implement project execution strategies, governance frameworks, controls, reporting mechanisms, KPIs and performance management systems aligned with organizational objectives and business growth plans.
- Review project portfolio performance regularly and present progress updates, key risks, mitigation plans and strategic recommendations to senior management and the Board.

2. Project Delivery & Operational Excellence

- Drive project performance by overseeing planning, scheduling, resource allocation, risk management, quality assurance, safety compliance and timely project delivery within approved budgets.
- Drive continuous improvement through the adoption of best practices, digital tools, process optimization and operational excellence initiatives across the Projects function.
- Ensure successful transition of completed projects to O&M; teams while maintaining project quality and customer satisfaction.

3. Commercial & Business Leadership

- Manage project profitability through effective cost control, contract administration, productivity enhancement,



claims management and commercial risk mitigation.
- Participate in bid strategy, project selection, project costing, contract negotiations, risk reviews, project feasibility assessments and business growth initiatives.
- Drive accountability for project margins, cost efficiency, cash flow management, working capital efficiency, claims realization and overall commercial performance of the project portfolio.

4. Leadership & Organization Development

- Provide leadership and direction to Project VPs, Project Managers, Site Heads and functional teams, fostering a high-performance, accountable and results-driven culture.
- Build and lead a high-performance Projects organization comprising Project Management, Construction, Planning, Quality, EHS, Contracts and Project Controls functions.
- Build organizational capability by developing future leaders, strengthening succession pipelines and promoting collaboration across teams.
- Champion a culture of safety, quality, innovation, ownership and continuous improvement across the Projects organization.
- Drive organizational transformation, scalability and capability-building initiatives to support the Company's long-term growth objectives.

5. Stakeholder & Customer Leadership

- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Procurement, Commercial, Finance, Legal and Business Development functions to ensure seamless project execution and support project acquisition initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory, environmental, contractual and stakeholder requirements.
- Maintain solid relationships with customers, government authorities, utilities, contractors, consultants, partners and other key stakeholders.
- Serve as the executive interface for strategic customers and key stakeholders during project execution.




- Lead resolution of critical customer escalations and contractual disputes.

Desired Candidate Profile

- 25+ years of experience in project execution and management within the Renewable Energy, Power, Infrastructure, or EPC sectors.
- Minimum 10 years in a senior leadership role managing large-scale Solar and Wind projects and demonstrated experience leading teams of 200+ employees across multiple locations.
- Experience managing annual project portfolios exceeding 1,000 Crore, with accountability for schedule, cost, quality, safety and profitability.
- Proven track record of delivering utility-scale renewable energy projects across multiple geographies.
- Strong understanding of Solar PV, Wind Energy, Hybrid Projects, BESS, Green Hydrogen, Greem Ammonia, Substations, Transmission Systems and Grid Integration.
- Extensive experience in project planning, contract administration, budgeting, cost control, risk management and stakeholder management.
- Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing large multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Strong knowledge of project management tools such as MS Project, ERP systems and project dashboards.
- Ability to drive organizational transformation, operational excellence and strategic growth initiatives.
- Excellent communication, presentation and decision-making skills.
- Experience interacting with Promoters, Boards, Investors, Strategic Customers and Executive Leadership Teams will be preferred.

Qualification

- B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or equivalent Engineering discipline.
- Master’s degree in engineering, Project Management, Operations Management, or Business Administration (MBA) preferred.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification will be an added advantage.
