The Design Engineer supports the planning, design, and development of CAD software applications, design methodologies, and supporting utilities, working across engineering disciplines to create effective design specifications, improve CAD workflows, and ensure the timely development and deployment of subsystem and product designs within architectural and hardware constraints.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Develop and implement CAD software applications, design specifications, design parameters, and supporting engineering routines or utility programs (30%).

- Prepare detailed design specifications, analyses, and technical recommendations for review and approval across engineering and leadership teams (20%).

- Specify materials, equipment, and supplies for project execution and evaluate vendor capabilities to support design and development needs (15%).

- Support mechanical design, materials science, environmental testing, reliability assessments, and failure analysis activities within the broader engineering organization (20%).

- Collaborate with geographically dispersed engineering teams to coordinate the design,



fabrication, and deployment of subsystem products and ensure alignment with project requirements (15%).

Representative Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field

- 4–6+ years of experience in design engineering, CAD development, or engineering software applications

- Experience defining design specifications, CAD workflows, and supporting engineering utilities or programs

- Knowledge of mechanical design, materials science, environmental testing, and reliability or failure analysis

- Ability to evaluate vendor capabilities and specify hardware, materials, or tools to support project needs

- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and design documentation skills

- Effective communication skills for collaborating across diverse, distributed engineering teams

- Ability to manage multiple design tasks in a dynamic engineering workplace
