Janman People's Foundation runs Jan Nyay Abhiyan, which gives legal aid to marginalised communities in Bihar on gender-based violence, caste atrocity, sanitation deaths and manual scavenging, welfare entitlements, and land and housing. Its cases run in the trial courts, the Patna High Court and the Supreme Court, and field teams carry out fact-finding on each one.

About the role
The Lead Social Worker leads the community-facing side of Jan Nyay Abhiyan: building Janman's own presence in its districts, setting up deliberate collaborations with organisations in the same field, and putting in the systems and accountability the programme lacks. Most of our community reach currently comes through partners and lapses when a partnership ends. The field team has grown to ten people across two districts without a common tracker, shared field tools or a written operations framework. This role is expected to design as much as it supervises.

Location: Patna, with 8–10 days a month in Purnia and Seemanchal
Terms: one-year consultancy, renewable on performance and funding
Remuneration: ₹50,000 a month consolidated (TDS under s.194J); field travel reimbursed at organisational rates

Key result areas (reviewed at three months, six months and year-end)
• Own community presence: a growing share of cases and contacts coming directly to Janman, measured by district against a month-one baseline
