Designation: Senior Registrar - Cardiac Anaesthesia
Department: Cardiac Anaesthesia / Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia
Reports To: Consultant / Head of Cardiac Anaesthesia
Location: Narayana Institute of Cradiac Science

Key Responsibilities
Conduct pre-anaesthetic assessment and optimization of patients undergoing cardiac and cardiothoracic surgery.
Provide anaesthesia for:
CABG and valve replacement/repair procedures
Aortic and other major cardiothoracic surgeries
Congenital cardiac proceduresas applicable
Emergency and high-risk cardiac procedures
Manage intraoperative haemodynamics using advanced monitoring techniquesincluding arterial and central venous monitoring andwhere indicatedpulmonary artery catheterization and TEE.
Assist with management of cardiopulmonary bypassincluding initiationmaintece and separation from bypassin coordination with the cardiac surgical and perfusion teams.
Manage difficult airwaymajor bleedingcoagulation abnormalitiesarrhythmias and perioperative cardiovascular instability.




Provide postoperative care in the cardiac surgical ICUincluding mechanical ventilationvasoactive/inotropic support and haemodynamic optimization.
Participate in emergency cardiac and resuscitation servicesincluding ACLS/CPR.
Assist with perioperative TEE and other advanced cardiac monitoringaccording to training and competency.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentatioaesthesia records and handover.
Participate in teaching and supervision of junior residents/registrars and other trainees.
Participate in departmental auditsquality-improvement initiativesmorbidity and mortality meetingsand clinical research where applicable.
Follow hospital policiesinfection-control practicespatient-safety standards and qualified/ethical guidelines.
Participate in on-callnight and weekend duties as per departmental roster.
