• Respond promptly to emergency calls and provide firefighting services to protect lives and property
• Operate and maintain firefighting equipment, apparatus, and vehicles in accordance with departmental standards
• Conduct thorough inspections of fire equipment and safety systems to ensure operational readiness
• Perform rescue operations and provide emergency medical assistance when required
• Participate in hazardous materials (HAZMAT) response and containment procedures
• Maintain detailed incident reports and documentation of emergency responses
• Provide fire safety education and prevention programs to the community
• Train and mentor junior firefighters and recent personnel on protocols and best practices
• Conduct regular drills and training exercises to maintain team proficiency and readiness
• Ensure compliance with all fire safety codes, regulations, and departmental policies
• Perform routine station maintenance and housekeeping duties
• Participate in community outreach and public relations activities
• Respond to non-emergency calls including welfare checks and public assistance requests
• Collaborate with other emergency services and agencies during multi-agency incidents
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Firefighter I and II certification (or ability to obtain within the specified timeframe)
• EMT-Basic certification or higher
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation and medical examination
• Physical fitness to meet departmental standards and pass fitness assessments
• Valid CPR certification from an accredited organization
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
