Job Summary

The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for leading the architecture, design, development, testing, and maintenance of software solutions for GoLINC products deployed in the rail industry. This role provides technical leadership across projects, drives design and implementation of complex features, and ensures delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable software solutions.

The engineer collaborates closely with Product Management, Systems Engineering, Test Engineering teams, and cross-functional software teams to gather/understand requirements, influence technical direction, and deliver solutions aligned with business objectives.

Responsibilities

- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of embedded and application software for GoLINC products.
- Drive software architecture, design decisions, and technology adoption for strategic initiatives.
- Translate product and system requirements into robust software designs and implementation plans.
- Review and approve software design documents, and technical specifications and implementation details.
- Provide technical leadership in resolving complex system-level issues and performance bottlenecks.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, secure, and aligned with architectural best practices.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to software engineers across the team.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and adoption of engineering best practices.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or MCA.
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering with significant experience in real-time embedded software development.




- Strong hands-on experience with C and C++ development in embedded, multitasking, and multithreaded environments.
- Experience with RTOS platforms such as QNX and embedded Linux.
- Strong understanding of embedded software architecture and design principles.
- Experience with communication protocols including Ethernet, TCP/IP, /Serial communication protocols.
- Experience working with embedded control systems.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance analysis skills.
- Experience with Python, Shell scripting, or similar automation languages.
- Experience with software configuration management, change management processes.
- Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) practices.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and unit testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies including Scrum and iterative development practices.
- Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently drive complex technical initiatives.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple teams and influence technical decisions.
- Desirable: Experience in the rail transportation industry.
- Knowledge of safety-critical software development practices.
- Familiarity with CENELEC, IEC 61508, EN 50128, or similar safety standards.
- Experience working with edge computing, telemetry, diagnostics, or connected device platforms.
- Experience with system-level architecture and design reviews.
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Microsoft Copilot, or other AI-based software development and productivity tools.
