Roles and Responsibilities
- Assign accurate medical codes to patient records using ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and CCS coding systems.
- Review electronic health records (EHRs) and paper charts to identify diagnoses, procedures, and services rendered to patients.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines for medical coding standards and industry regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve any discrepancies or questions related to coding accuracy.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
Desired Candidate Profile
- 2-6 years of experience in outpatient medical coding with a focus on physician-based practices.
- Robust knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS Level II codes; ability to apply them accurately according to established guidelines.
- Proficiency in CPC/CCS certification preferred.
