Role & responsibilities

Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing Retail Asset Credit Policy framework in alignment with Banks Risk appetite, regulatory requirements and business strategy. This role requires understanding of the retail industry's operational, financial, reputational, and compliance risks. The ideal candidate will use data-driven insights to manage the company's risk appetite, safeguard its assets, and ensure long-term stability and compliance.

Strategy and Planning

- Tracking portfolio triggers, risk appetite level, NPA/write off trends, quality of static asset pool.
- Ensure adherence to internal systems, controls & processes to ensure efficiency, risk management, operational risk management and compliance.
- Identify areas of improvement in existing processes of credit underwriting, risk management and operations and its implementation.
- Support system changes to improve quality of data and ease of process.

Policies, Processes & Procedures

- Formulation of Credit policy within regulatory parameters and risk appetite of the bank.
- Ensure all policies are compliant with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices.

Business Development

- Ensure Implementation and adherence of Credit Policy through training to credit, business and operations team on the policy parameters and consistent guidance on the clarifications on product and policy parameters.
- Business rule engine (BRE) implementation by explaining the policy to BDTS team.
- Ensure the policy is converted to rule in system. Co-ordination with credit for UAT testing.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

- Provide ongoing monitoring and reporting of portfolio delinquencies and net credit losses (NCL).
- Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and metrics to track,



report, and escalate risk-related issues to senior management.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for risk committees and the board of directors.
- Preparation of monthly newsletters and MIS, snapshot of Portfolio performance, monthly acquisition trend, quality of portfolio and trigger monitoring.
- Preparing and monitoring of Portfolio cuts & pool Characteristic
- Competition benchmarking and review of policies and programs periodically.
- Use data and analytics for portfolio health tracking and systematically improving the Policy and Process.
- Reviewing and up-keep of BRE rules, scorecards, STP journeys and other digital initiatives.

Relationship Management

- Peer interaction and stakeholder engagement across locations.
- Tracking of exceptions/deferrals taken by Business & follow up for closures.
- Interacting with cross-functional teams and driving the credit policy agenda and ensuring correct implementation of credit policy guidelines in origination system and decisioning platforms
- Work in partnership with the credit systems support team to implement key credit policy criteria in relevant credit acceptance & evaluation systems.

Customer Relationship Management

- Customer Centric Policies – Balance Risk with Customer Convenience

Risk and Internal Control





- Conduct regular and targeted risk assessments to identify potential threats to the retail business, including operational, credit, fraud, and reputational risks.
- Analyze portfolio performance and identify high-risk segments to recommend corrective actions.
- Work with various departments to design and implement controls that mitigate identified risks.
- Manage the interface with External / Internal Auditors.

People Management

- Ensuring adherence to credit Policy and guidance/ clarifications on policy parameters to stakeholders.
- Ensuring adherence to Internal audit/RCSA/regulatory/compliance observations for process/policy improvement.
- Travelling whenever feasible to understand the local policy and product requirement, process reviews and imparting training.
- Conducting Training and query resolution pertaining to Product Policy of line team.
- Liaison with internal IT team for coding of policies and program scorecards in BRE and LOS.
- Working closely with model risk and BIU team to get risk estimation models fine-tuned.
- Use data and analytics for portfolio health tracking and systematically improving the Policy and Process.
- Assist in developing and implementing training programs to improve the quality and productivity of the team.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders, including legal, compliance, operations, and IT, to ensure policy implementation is seamless

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Engineering with Postgraduation in Finance
- CA / CFA / FRM / MBA (Finance) from a positive institute.

Experience

- Experience in Policy /Portfolio monitoring role.
- Experience in Business Rule Engine rule creation and testing.
