Role Purpose
Responsible for ensuring the quality of incoming raw materials, components, bought-out parts and supplier-provided materials by establishing effective inspection, supplier quality controls and corrective-action mechanisms. The role will work closely with suppliers, Purchase, Production, Engineering and Quality teams to ensure that only conforming material is released for production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Incoming Material Inspection
- Establish and implement incoming inspection standards for raw materials, components and bought-out parts.
- Inspect incoming materials against drawings, specifications, control plans and approved samples.
- Ensure proper inspection of dimensional, functional, visual and material characteristics.
- Review and maintain incoming inspection records and quality documentation.
- Ensure proper identification, segregation and disposition of rejected/non-conforming material.
2. Supplier Quality Management
- Monitor supplier quality performance through rejection, PPM, complaints and delivery-quality metrics.
- Coordinate with suppliers for quality issues and ensure timely corrective and preventive actions.
- Conduct supplier visits and process audits as required.
- Support supplier development and improvement initiatives.
- Follow up on supplier action plans until effective closure.
3. Problem Solving & Corrective Action
- Lead investigation of incoming quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Drive 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto and CAPA activities with suppliers.
- Verify the effectiveness of corrective actions before closure.
- Analyze recurring rejection trends and initiate preventive actions.
4. Quality Systems & Documentation
- Prepare and maintain inspection standards, check sheets and quality records.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IATF 16949 and company quality-system requirements.
- Review supplier documentation such as: PPAP, Control Plan, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, Inspection Reports, Material Test Certificates
- Ensure traceability of incoming material wherever applicable.
5. Supplier Development & Audits
- Participate in supplier process/product audits.
- Evaluate supplier manufacturing and quality processes against defined requirements.
- Identify process gaps and support suppliers in implementing improvement actions.
- Monitor supplier audit action closure.
6. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Purchase, Production, Stores, Engineering and Supplier Development teams regarding quality issues.
- Provide technical inputs during supplier selection and development.
- Support engineering changes, new product development and localization activities.
- Participate in APQP and recent-product quality activities where required.

Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of Incoming Quality / Supplier Quality
- Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA and SPC
- Hands-on experience with 8D and Root Cause Analysis
- Knowledge of IATF 16949
- Understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T;
- Knowledge of measuring instruments and inspection methods
- Basic knowledge of statistical quality tools
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel and quality reporting
