The client needs a technically strong WordPress/Divi developer who can take on complex, custom integration work that currently falls entirely on one internal resource. This is primarily backend/technical work not visual design supporting an established in-house design and development team.
Core responsibilities
- Build and maintain complex API integrations for client websites, including wine-industry-specific e-commerce and store platforms
- Support multi-storefront and destination-website integrations (e.g., complex third-party platform integrations similar to a recent SimpleView-based project)
- Work within the client's ticketing system on a mix of small technical fixes and large-scale technical builds
- Perform technical/SEO site audits and resolve related issues as tickets come in
Required skills & experience
- Strong professional English communication skills (spoken and written) — non-negotiable for this client
- Hands-on experience with both Divi 4 and Divi 5
- Proven experience with complex API integrations and e-commerce/store integrations on WordPress
- Familiarity working from technical documentation (GitHub, Slack) to current/proprietary platforms
- WordPress development experience at a senior/technical level (not primarily a designer)
Nice to have
- Experience with WP Engine hosting environments
- Experience with e-commerce/wine industry platforms
- Familiarity with Teamwork / Teamwork Desk (client's PM and ticketing tool)
- CI/CD familiarity
Working style / process fit
- Must build using Divi options rather than hard-coded overrides — client has been burned before by code that limits future editability
- Ticket volume and complexity varies widely (from a single image fix to a full 20-page site redesign) — needs to flex across scope
