Head of Logistics

Role Summary

We are looking for a hands-on and operationally focused Head of Logistics to lead end-to-end logistics operations, with a strong focus on first-mile transportation, fleet management, vendor management, warehouse operations and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate should have experience in quick-commerce, D2C or fast-growing e-commerce organizations, managing high-volume and time-sensitive logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage first-mile logistics operations as a primary responsibility.
- Plan and coordinate transportation from suppliers/locations to warehouses, fulfilment centres and distribution points.
- Manage transporters, logistics partners and vendors, including negotiations, performance monitoring and service-level adherence.
- Manage and optimize larger-vehicle transportation/fleet operations, including vehicle deployment, utilization and route planning.
- Oversee warehouse receiving, storage, dispatch and distribution operations.
- Optimize warehouse space utilization and ensure inventory accuracy through appropriate controls and cycle counts.
- Monitor logistics KPIs including on-time delivery, fleet utilization, turnaround time, logistics cost and service levels.
- Develop and implement logistics strategies to improve productivity and reduce operational costs.




- Analyse logistics and supply-chain data to identify bottlenecks and implement continuous process improvements.
- Coordinate the complete order-to-delivery cycle and proactively resolve operational issues.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, statutory and applicable ISO requirements.
- Lead, coach and develop warehouse, transportation and logistics teams.
- Drive operational excellence in a fast-paced, high-growth setting.

Mandatory Requirements

- 5-7 years of relevant experience in logistics, transportation, warehouse and/or fleet operations.
- Strong and demonstrable first-mile logistics experience, which should be a significant/primary part of the candidate's role.
- Experience in quick-commerce only
- Hands-on experience managing vendors and transporters.
- Hands-on experience with larger-vehicle transportation/fleet operations.
- Strong understanding of warehouse and transportation operations.
- Experience with WMS and/or TMS is preferred/required for the role.
- Strong leadership, analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate effectively under pressure and resolve unforeseen logistics issues quickly.

Education

B.Tech / MBA from Tier 1 or Tier 2 institutions preferred, including NITs, IIMs, NITIE, SP Jain and Welingkar Institute.

Candidates should demonstrate:

- No job change in the last 12 months, and
- Maximum 1 job move in the last 5 years.

Important: Candidates whose experience is primarily middle-mile or last-mile logistics without substantial first-mile ownership will not be considered.
