1. Role Overview

We are looking for a Solar Maintenance Technician responsible for the operation, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring of Solar PV systems.

The candidate will be responsible for maintaining system reliability, minimizing downtime, identifying technical issues, and ensuring optimal plant performance while strictly following safety and quality standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) of Solar PV systems as per O&M; plans and checklists.
- Carry out corrective and breakdown maintenance to minimize system downtime.
- Inspect solar modules, mounting structures, DC/AC cables, connectors, junction boxes, string combiner boxes, inverters, LT panels, and protection systems.
- Monitor inverter status, alarms, faults, and system performance.
- Troubleshoot inverter faults, string failures, DC/AC faults, loose connections, and other electrical issues.
- Identify abnormal generation, low-performing strings, and potential performance losses.
- Perform module inspection and assist in identifying damaged, cracked, hot-spot affected, or defective modules.
- Check DC and AC connections, cable termination, fuses, isolators, MCBs/MCCBs, SPDs, and other protection devices.
- Inspect and maintain earthing and lightning protection systems.
- Perform electrical testing using multimeter, clamp meter, insulation resistance tester, and other relevant instruments.
- Carry out periodic cleaning and inspection of solar modules as per the maintenance schedule.
- Check mounting structures, fasteners, cable trays, cable dressing, and other mechanical components for damage or deterioration.
- Maintain proper housekeeping around the solar plant/site.
- Record equipment readings, faults, maintenance activities, and corrective actions.
- Prepare daily maintenance reports,



breakdown reports, inspection checklists, and other O&M; documentation.
- Maintain records of spare parts, tools, and consumables used during maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with O&M; Engineers, supervisors, vendors, and service teams for major technical issues.
- Escalate critical or recurring faults to the reporting manager with proper technical details.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed within the defined response and resolution timelines.

3. Preventive Maintenance Activities

The technician will be responsible for routine inspection and maintenance including:

- Solar module visual inspection and cleaning.
- Inverter inspection and parameter/alarm checking.
- DC string and cable inspection.
- AC cable and electrical panel inspection.
- Junction box and combiner box inspection.
- Fuse, SPD, MCB/MCCB and isolator inspection.
- Earthing resistance and connection checks.
- Mounting structure and fastener inspection.
- Cable tray and cable dressing inspection.
- Monitoring system and communication checks.
- Identification of loose connections, overheating, corrosion, and physical damage.

4. Breakdown & Troubleshooting

- Attend breakdown calls and technical complaints promptly.
- Diagnose faults using appropriate testing equipment.
- Identify the root cause of equipment/system failures.
- Rectify faults wherever technically feasible.
- Replace defective components as per approved procedures.
- Verify system performance after corrective maintenance.
- Document the cause of failure, action taken, and final status.
- Escalate major equipment failures to the O&M; Engineer/Manager.

5. Safety Responsibilities

- Follow all company HSE policies, electrical safety procedures, and site SOPs.
- Use appropriate PPE during all maintenance activities.




- Follow electrical isolation and LOTO procedures wherever applicable.
- Follow work-at-height safety procedures for rooftop installations.
- Ensure safe handling of electrical equipment and tools.
- Do not perform unauthorized electrical modifications or repairs.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, and near misses.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.

6. Required Technical Skills

- Practical knowledge of Solar PV systems and O&M; activities.
- Good understanding of DC and AC electrical systems.
- Knowledge of solar inverter operation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of electrical protection systems.
- Understanding of earthing and lightning protection.
- Ability to use electrical testing instruments.
- Basic knowledge of solar monitoring systems.
- Ability to read basic electrical and Solar PV drawings.
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.

7. Qualification & Experience

- ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Renewable Energy, or related technical field.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in Solar O&M; / Electrical Maintenance.
- Experience with rooftop, commercial & industrial, or ground-mounted solar projects will be preferred.

8. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

- Solar plant/system uptime.
- Preventive maintenance completion rate.
- Breakdown response and resolution time.
- Reduction in recurring technical faults.
- Maintenance quality and equipment reliability.
- Compliance with HSE requirements.
- Accuracy of maintenance reports and documentation.
- Effective utilization of tools, spares, and resources.

9. Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be a hands-on and technically competent Solar O&M; qualified with strong electrical troubleshooting skills. The candidate must have a safety-first approach, good work discipline, and the ability to independently handle routine maintenance and breakdown activities at solar sites.
