HR Generalist – Payroll & HR Operations
Location: Kolkata
Employment Type: Full-Time
Experience: 3–6 Years
Department: Human Resources
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced HR Generalist with solid Payroll & HR Operations experience to manage day-to-day HR activities, payroll processing, employee records, compliance, and employee lifecycle management. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in payroll coordination and be comfortable handling HR operations independently.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Management
- Manage monthly payroll processing for employees and ensure timely and accurate salary processing.
- Verify attendance, leaves, late marks, LOP, incentives, deductions, and other payroll inputs.
- Coordinate with the Finance/Accounts team for monthly salary processing.
- Prepare and maintain payroll-related reports and salary statements.
- Handle employee queries related to salary, deductions, attendance, leave, and payroll discrepancies.
- Ensure proper documentation and confidentiality of payroll data.
- Assist with Full & Final Settlement calculations and exit-related payroll processes.
HR Operations
- Manage the complete employee lifecycle, including onboarding, documentation, probation, confirmation, transfers, promotions, and exits.
- Maintain and regularly update employee records, HR files, attendance, leave, and other HR databases.
- Prepare and issue offer letters, appointment letters, confirmation letters, experience letters, warning letters, and other HR documents.
- Monitor attendance, working hours, leave records, late marks,
and employee discipline.
- Coordinate employee onboarding and ensure all required documents are collected.
- Conduct exit formalities and maintain proper separation records.
- Support implementation and communication of company HR policies and procedures.
Recruitment & Employee Relations
- Support recruitment activities including sourcing, screening, interview coordination, and onboarding.
- Coordinate with department heads/managers regarding manpower requirements.
- Address employee concerns and HR-related queries professionally.
- Maintain a positive employee experience and support employee engagement initiatives.
- Assist management in resolving employee-related issues and maintaining workplace discipline.
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and confidential HR records and payroll documentation.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable labour laws and statutory requirements.
- Prepare regular HR reports related to headcount, attendance, leave, payroll, attrition, and employee movements.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants, where required, for payroll and statutory matters.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration,
Commerce, or a related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in HR Generalist / HR Operations roles.
- Strong hands-on experience in Payroll Processing and HR Operations.
- Good knowledge of attendance, leave, LOP, salary structure, deductions, and Full & Final Settlement.
- Working knowledge of Excel/Microsoft Office and HRMS/payroll software.
- Knowledge of applicable labour laws and statutory compliance will be an advantage.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality while handling employee and salary information.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple HR activities simultaneously.
Preferred Candidate
- Candidates with strong experience in payroll + HR operations will be preferred.
- Candidates who can independently handle monthly payroll coordination and employee lifecycle activities are highly preferred.
- Immediate joiners or candidates with a short notice period will be preferred.
