JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Assembly Fitter
Department: Production / Assembly
Product: Pick Fill Seal (PFS) & VFFS Packaging Machines
Location: Goa
Reporting To: Production Manager / Assembly In-Charge
Job Purpose
To carry out the mechanical assembly, fitting, alignment, installation and testing of PFS and VFFS packaging machines as per engineering drawings, specifications and production requirements.
The role involves working with various mechanical components, pneumatic systems, shafts, bearings, conveyors, sealing assemblies and other machine parts to ensure accurate and efficient machine assembly.
Key Responsibilities1. Machine Assembly
- Assemble PFS and VFFS packaging machines as per approved drawings and assembly instructions.
- Fit mechanical components, assemblies, shafts, bearings, gears, rollers, conveyors and other machine parts.
- Perform sub-assembly and final assembly of packaging machines.
- Ensure proper fitting, alignment and positioning of machine components.
- Use appropriate hand tools, power tools and fitting equipment.
2. Mechanical Fitting & Alignment
- Carry out drilling, tapping, filing, grinding and other basic fitting operations as required.
- Check dimensions and tolerances using measuring instruments.
- Perform shaft, bearing, roller and component alignment.
- Ensure proper movement and functioning of mechanical assemblies.
- Identify and rectify fitting and alignment issues during assembly.
3. Pneumatic Assembly
- Install pneumatic cylinders, valves, FRL units, tubing and fittings.
- Connect pneumatic lines according to machine drawings and specifications.
- Check for air leakage and ensure proper pneumatic operation.
- Assist in troubleshooting pneumatic problems during machine testing.
4. Machine Installation & Testing
- Assist in machine commissioning and trial runs.
- Check machine movement and mechanical operation before dispatch.
- Identify abnormal noise, vibration, alignment or mechanical issues.
- Make necessary adjustments during machine trials.
- Support final inspection and pre-dispatch testing.
5. Drawing & Technical Understanding
- Read and understand mechanical assembly drawings.
- Follow engineering drawings, BOMs and work instructions.
- Identify components using part numbers and drawings.
- Coordinate with Design/Engineering teams when clarification is required.
6. Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Identify mechanical problems during machine assembly and testing.
- Troubleshoot issues related to bearings, shafts, belts, chains, rollers, gears and other mechanical components.
- Replace or rectify defective components.
- Report recurring assembly or component issues to the supervisor.
7. Quality & Safety
- Maintain required quality standards during machine assembly.
- Ensure correct components are used as per drawings and BOM.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper housekeeping at the workstation.
- Follow company safety procedures while handling machinery and tools.
- Use appropriate PPE and follow secure working practices.
8. Coordination
- Coordinate with Design, Production, Electrical, Stores and Service teams.
- Inform the supervisor about material shortages, drawing issues or assembly difficulties.
- Assist senior technicians and engineers during machine installation and commissioning.
- Support other production activities when required.

Required Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Fitter, Mechanical or related trade.
- ITI Fitter qualification will be preferred.
Experience
- 1–5 years of experience in mechanical assembly, machine manufacturing or industrial equipment assembly.
- Experience in packaging machinery, automation machinery or industrial machines will be an advantage.
- Fresh ITI candidates with good technical knowledge may also be considered.
Technical Skills
- Mechanical machine assembly and fitting
- Knowledge of bearings, shafts, gears, chains, belts and rollers
- Basic pneumatic system knowledge
- Ability to read mechanical drawings
- Knowledge of measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper and Micrometer
- Drilling, tapping, grinding and basic fabrication/fitting skills
- Knowledge of hand tools and power tools
- Basic machine troubleshooting skills

Authority & Accountability
The Assembly Fitter is responsible for accurate, safe and timely assembly of PFS and VFFS packaging machines, ensuring that all mechanical components are correctly fitted, aligned and tested according to approved drawings and company quality standards.
Pay: ₹16,000.00 - ₹32,000.00 per month
