- Good knowledge of the book publishing process, from manuscript preparation to final printing.
- Understanding of book layout, page design, typesetting, and pagination.
- Knowledge of designing book covers, title pages, chapter openers, and educational content.
- Familiarity with children’s books, textbooks, workbooks, activity books, and other educational publications.
- Ability to work with text, illustrations, images, tables, and other elements used in books.
- Good understanding of typography, font selection, readability, and page composition.
- Knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator for book designing and artwork preparation.
- Understanding of print specifications, including trim size, margins, bleed, colour modes (CMYK/RGB), and image resolution.
- Knowledge of pre-press processes, PDF preparation, and print-ready file generation.
- Ability to check page alignment,



text placement, image quality, and consistency throughout the book.
- Understanding of proof correction and incorporating editorial changes accurately.
- Knowledge of coordinating with editorial, content development, illustration, and production teams.
- Ability to follow the publisher’s design guidelines and maintain consistency across a series of books.
- Awareness of printing methods, paper types, binding styles, and finishing requirements.
- Ability to manage multiple book projects and meet publishing schedules and production deadlines.
