Role Description The Unit Head – S&T; Projects is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Bengaluru, responsible for overseeing signalling and telecommunications project units from planning through delivery. The role manages project portfolios, including scope definition, resource allocation, budgeting, scheduling, and risk mitigation to ensure adherence to technical standards and client requirements.

The Unit

Head coordinates multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders, drives engineering continuity, and enforces interface discipline across design, installation, testing, and commissioning activities. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing technical documentation, monitoring progress and quality metrics, resolving project issues, and ensuring regulatory and safety compliance.



The role also contributes to capability development, supports knowledge transfer to EDRC, and helps shape strategies for innovation and continuous improvement in S&T; projects.

Qualifications

- Strong background in railway signalling and telecommunications engineering, with experience managing end-to-end S&T; projects.
- Demonstrated capability in project management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder coordination.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams, with proven skills in people management, mentoring, and performance oversight.
- Familiarity with railway safety standards, regulatory frameworks, and quality management systems such as ISO 9001.
- Ability to interpret complex technical designs, interface requirements, and verification and validation processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a focus on delivery reliability and operational safety.
- Robust written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, project documentation, and client-facing updates.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or related engineering discipline; advanced qualifications or professional certifications in railway systems or project management are an advantage.
- Prior experience working in mainline, metro, or urban rail projects, particularly in an on-site leadership or unit head capacity, is highly beneficial.
- Comfort working in a quick-paced environment, with readiness to engage in field visits, design reviews, and cross-functional coordination as required.
