SSRS / Power BI Developer (Paginated Reports)

We are seeking an experienced SSRS / Power BI Developer to join our team in a fully remote capacity from India. In this role, you will lead the modernization of our reporting ecosystem by migrating legacy SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) reports into Power BI Paginated Reports using Power BI Report Builder.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in SSRS, Power BI Paginated Reports, semantic data modeling, and advanced T-SQL development. You will leverage Git-based version control and automated deployment pipelines to deliver, test, and manage reporting solutions seamlessly across Development, Test, and Production environments.

Key Responsibilities

- Legacy SSRS Modernization: Re-architect and convert existing SSRS reports into Power BI Paginated Reports using Power BI Report Builder, ensuring complete fidelity of business calculations, logic, and output functionality.
- Paginated Report Development: Design, build, refine, and deploy pixel-perfect paginated reports tailored to organizational needs.
- Database & SQL Optimization: Author, tune, and troubleshoot complex T-SQL queries, views, and stored procedures using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) to ensure rapid query performance.
- Version Control & Repository Management: Utilize Git workflows (branching, pull requests, code reviews, and merge conflict resolution) to maintain rigorous release standards.
- Environment & Release Management: Manage code promotion and deployment of reporting assets across Dev, Test, and Prod stages via integrated deployment pipelines.




- Data Quality & Reconciliation: Perform end-to-end testing, validating migrated report outputs against legacy SSRS runs to ensure complete data integrity.
- Governance & Best Practices: Enforce uniform design templates, naming conventions, directory structures, row-level/workspace security models, and governance frameworks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with analysts, business stakeholders, and engineering teams to capture requirements, refine specifications, and resolve technical issues.
- Operational Excellence: Promote a culture of security awareness, responsiveness, and continuous process improvement across our analytics operations.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Core Reporting Tools: Proven experience with SSRS, Power BI Report Builder, Power BI Paginated Reports, Power BI Desktop, and the Power BI Service platform.
- SQL Mastery: Advanced proficiency in SQL Server, SSMS, T-SQL development, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Source Control: Direct experience using Git for source control, including branch strategies, PR workflows, and repository administration.
- Deployment Pipelines: Practical understanding of multi-environment lifecycle management (Dev/Test/Prod) and Power BI release pipelines.
- Analytical Mindset:



Demonstrated ability to audit, document, and replicate intricate business logic embedded within legacy database objects and legacy reports.
- Communication: Explicit verbal and written English communication skills for collaborating across distributed global teams.

Preferred Qualifications & Knowledge

- Hands-on familiarity with Microsoft Power BI Desktop, Microsoft Report Builder, and data modeling concepts.
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and platforms tailored for BI/analytics (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub).
- Knowledge of DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and semantic modeling techniques.
- Familiarity with enterprise data governance and security frameworks.

Education & Certifications

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Core Prerequisite: Direct experience with SSRS, Power BI Report Builder, SQL Server, and Git-based version control is required.
- Preferred Certification: Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300).
- Bonus Certifications: Certifications in Microsoft Fabric, Azure DevOps, or related Azure Data platform technologies.
