This role will create the agent orchestration, tool integrations, evaluation approach, and guardrails required to move AI use-cases from prototype to reliable production capability. Engineers will use Nationwide’s established Golden Path and standard development tool chain

Key Responsibilities

- Build and deploy agentic AI solutions using AWS Bedrock AgentCore and Python with the Strands framework.
- Design agent workflows that use approved tools, APIs, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to retrieve context and take bounded actions.
- Integrate agents with enterprise APIs, knowledge sources, workflow platforms, and cloud-security services in partnership with the API Developer.
- Implement guardrails for identity, authorization, tool permissions, prompt and response handling, data classification, logging, evaluation, and human approval.
- Develop automated evaluation suites for accuracy, safety, latency, cost, and task completion; use results to continuously improve agent behavior.
- Implement CI with GitHub Actions and CD with Harness for agent code, configuration, prompts, evaluations, and deployment artifacts.
- Partner with SMEs to curate approved knowledge, define escalation paths, and establish human-in-the-loop controls for high-risk actions.
- Monitor production agent usage, failures, hallucination patterns, and tool-call outcomes; maintain runbooks and operational dashboards.
- Contribute reusable agent patterns, MCP integration standards, prompt conventions, and reference implementations for the CPS AI Build Line.

Required Qualifications

- Strong experience in secure software engineering, machine-learning engineering, or AI engineering experience with deploying agent to AWS and building IaC code to deploy applications
- Experience with AWS Bedrock and/or AWS Bedrock AgentCore; experience with Strands is required.

- Experience implementing CI/CD with GitHub Actions and Harness or comparable enterprise tooling.
- Robust understanding of AI security, secure coding, access control, data handling, and production observability.
- Ability to explain AI-system behavior, limitations, risks, and controls to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with retrieval-augmented generation, knowledge grounding, vector search, and document-processing pipelines.
- Experience with agent evaluation frameworks, red teaming, guardrails, prompt-injection defenses, and human-in-the-loop controls.
- Experience with Kubernetes, AWS, and cloud-security services.
- Build and deploying Cloud Native applications using Infrastructure-as-Code: CDK/Helm Charts to AWS/K8s environments
- Experience building AI products in cyber security, cloud engineering, or another regulated domain.
- Experience with Agile product delivery and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Ability to learn emerging technologies quickly and apply engineering discipline to build maintainable, production-ready solutions.

Other Expectations

- Build reusable, secure, observable software that follows Nationwide’s AWS Golden Path and standard technology stack.
- Prioritize engineering quality, automated testing, security, resilience, and maintainability alongside delivery speed.
- Collaborate across core product team and cross-train with operational team, develop run books and move capabilities into production.
