Job Summary:

Petrocon Engineers & Consultants is looking for an experienced Project Planner to support project management and lead planning activities for one or more projects/services during the tendering, execution, and project close-out phases.

The role will involve developing, integrating, monitoring, and analysing project schedules across engineering, procurement, construction, manufacturing, and commissioning activities, while ensuring alignment with contractual requirements, project milestones, resources, and execution priorities.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Primavera, project planning, critical path analysis, resource and cost management, progress monitoring, and multidisciplinary project coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop, maintain, and manage project schedules at various levels, including:

Level 0 – Master Schedule Level 1 – Macro Schedule

Level 2 – Detailed Schedule

Level 3 – Project Schedule

Level 4 and above – Plant Master Plans, supplier schedules, construction schedules, and analysis schedules

- Develop and manage schedule revisions and changes in accordance with contractual requirements and project execution needs.
- Integrate engineering schedules, including resources, workload, and duration, with procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning schedules.
- Ensure project schedules are regularly updated based on inputs from project teams and relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor project progress and prepare timely schedule updates, progress reports, forecasts, and planning analyses.
- Monitor actual hours against planned workload and forecast resource requirements against available departmental capacity.
- Analyse project schedules, including critical and near-critical paths,



schedule float, constraints, and potential delays.
- Identify schedule deviations and support the development of appropriate recovery and mitigation actions.
- Coordinate project interfaces, dependencies, and key milestones across disciplines and stakeholders.
- Participate in Risk & Chance reviews and incorporate relevant schedule risks and mitigation measures into project planning.
- Support project execution in complex environments involving consortium schedules, multi-project plant environments, multiple partners, suppliers, and contractors.
- Review relevant contract sections and appendices related to project planning and scheduling to ensure contractual requirements are properly incorporated.
- Support the preparation and management of claim schedules, including invoicing and claims-related planning activities where applicable.
- Support the definition, integration, and scheduling of project payment milestones.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining cash-flow curves linked to project schedules and milestones.
- Apply and maintain project schedule management principles for projects executed with external partners or consortium members.
- Prepare project/service close-out reports comparing the original baseline schedule with actual execution.
- Identify and explain major schedule deviations, project-specific challenges, and key planning observations.
- Capture and integrate lessons learned / feedback (REX) into future project planning activities.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to planning standards, methodologies, processes, and tools.

Required Technical Skills:

- Strong hands-on knowledge of Primavera, including advanced capabilities such as:
- Project scheduling
- Resource management
- Cost management
- Progress monitoring
- Reporting and analysis
- Knowledge of Primavera Administration.
- Experience or knowledge of 4D Planning and Construction Planning.
- Knowledge and experience with ERP systems such as SAP.




- Familiarity with other planning tools such as Microsoft Project or Planisware.
- Strong understanding of:
- Project planning and scheduling
- Critical Path Methodology
- Float analysis
- Resource and workload planning
- Progress measurement
- Schedule forecasting
- Contractual planning requirements
- Financial and cost considerations
- Good knowledge of industrial products, components, manufacturing methods, and processes.
- Knowledge of power plants and their major components, including turbines and generators, along with associated manufacturing and execution processes.
- Good proficiency in spreadsheets, databases, reporting tools, and presentation software.

Additional Skills:

- Ability to support cross-functional initiatives within the department and organisation.
- Basic understanding of team and department management principles.
- Knowledge of PMI / PMP principles would be an advantage.
- Basic knowledge of coaching, mentoring, and planner development.

Preferred Candidate Profile:

- 9+ years of relevant experience in Project Planning, Project Controls, or Scheduling.
- Experience in EPC, Power, Energy, Industrial, or large-scale engineering projects.
- Strong practical experience in Primavera and multidisciplinary project scheduling.
- Experience coordinating schedules across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Exposure to complex project environments involving clients, suppliers, contractors, and consortium partners.
