About the role (Role Purpose)

The Risk Partner provides proactive advice, insight and independent challenge on non-financial risk and governance matters. Working closely with senior leaders, Line 1 teams and the wider Risk and Compliance functions, the role helps the business understand its risk profile, apply risk appetite and embed proportionate risk and control management in day-to-day decisions.

The role connects business strategy, emerging risks, regulation, risk appetite, controls, issues and assurance. It uses data, reporting, tooling and constructive challenge to support high-quality, timely and balanced decisions, while promoting simplification, modernisation and continuous improvement.

The Risk Partner operates as a trusted adviser while preserving appropriate Line 2 independence. The role supports relevant executive, risk and Board committees through clear, evidence-based and action-oriented insight.

What you'll do here (Key Accountabilities)

Business partnering and strategic insight

- Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders, providing pragmatic advice and proportionate independent challenge on risk and governance matters.
- Understand business strategy, priorities, operations and change portfolios, and identify the principal risks to successful delivery and good customer outcomes.
- Provide targeted, forward-looking insight on the risk profile, risk appetite, emerging risks and material changes in exposure.
- Translate risk requirements into clear business implications, options and recommendations that support robust and balanced decision-making.
- Escalate material risks,



control weaknesses, non-compliance, incidents, breaches and emerging concerns through appropriate governance routes.

Risk and control framework oversight

- Promote consistent and effective application of enterprise risk and control policies, frameworks, standards and taxonomies, including policy adherence and process adoption by the business teams.
- Review and challenge risk and control assessments, control design and effectiveness, risk response, issue remediation and closure evidence.
- Support thematic reviews, gap analyses and risk maturity assessments, identifying practical opportunities to improve capability and outcomes.
- Provide independent advice and challenge on key risks, risk appetite, indicators, emerging risk profiles, policy management and incidents, drawing on subject-matter experts where specialist input is required.

Governance, reporting and assurance

- Develop clear, concise and evidence-based reporting for executive, risk and Board committees, highlighting trends, concentrations, emerging concerns, decisions and required actions.
- Analyse risk, control, incident, issue, assurance and third-party information to identify themes, dependencies and areas requiring management attention.
- Contribute to committee agendas, papers, deep dives, minutes and action tracking where required, ensuring governance materials are accurate, timely and decision-useful.
- Coordinate with Line 1 risk teams, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Internal Audit, external audit and independent assurance providers to support joined-up oversight, reduce duplication and strengthen governance outcomes.
- Support regulatory engagement and the coordination of actions arising from internal or external reviews, monitoring progress and escalating delivery risks.

Data, tooling and continuous improvement

- Champion high-quality risk data, clear ownership and data lineage, improving the reliability and usefulness of management information.
- Use data analytics, visualisation, automation and modern technology to strengthen insight, streamline activity and reduce manual effort.
- Contribute to the development and embedding of risk tooling, reporting standards and a forward-looking risk calendar.
- Benchmark risk practices through internal networks, industry bodies and external specialists, translating relevant good practice into sustainable improvement.




- Promote a strong risk and control culture by sharing practical good practice and supporting coaching, training and communication that embed consistent risk management behaviours.

Core skills and capabilities

- Senior stakeholder management, with the credibility to advise, influence, negotiate and challenge constructively.
- Excellent judgement and the ability to balance commercial, customer, regulatory and risk considerations.
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication for varied audiences, including local leadership team and UK&I; Risk Leadership.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, able to synthesise complex structured and unstructured information into actionable insight.
- Commercial awareness, curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Strong organisation and prioritisation skills, with the resilience to deliver high-quality outputs in a dynamic environment.
- Cooperative working across functions, regions and virtual teams, without reliance on direct authority.
- High integrity, discretion and sound handling of confidential information.

Technical knowledge

- Strong understanding of enterprise and operational risk management, governance, risk appetite, controls, assurance and issue management.
- Knowledge of relevant financial services regulation and conduct expectations
- Good understanding of risk data, analytics, visualisation, workflow tooling and opportunities for automation.

Experience

- Substantial experience in Risk, Compliance, Controls, Audit or a comparable governance role within a regulated organisation, preferably financial services or insurance.
- Experience providing pragmatic, evidence-based advice and independent challenge to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
- Experience assessing risk and control environments, monitoring remedial actions and supporting assurance or regulatory activity.
- Experience contributing to significant change, simplification, modernisation or risk transformation initiatives.
- Experience producing high-quality committee and Board reporting and turning data into explicit insight.

Decision-making authority and impact

- Provides independent advice, opinion and challenge within the remit of Line 2 non-financial risk oversight.
- Influences senior stakeholders across the Indian business and wider Group, escalating where risk exposure or management response falls outside agreed expectations, this includes incidents and escalation aligned with framework.
- Recommends actions, priorities and governance responses based on evidence, policy, risk appetite and professional judgement.
- Does not own Line 1 risks, controls or business decisions, but supports and challenges accountable owners to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
