Role Description The Proofreader role at TNQ BOOKS & JOURNALS PRIVATE LIMITED is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The candidate will review books, journals, and related materials for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and consistency, ensuring that all content meets the company’s quality standards. Daily tasks include carefully checking page proofs, correcting errors, flagging unclear text, and coordinating with editors and production staff to clarify issues.

The role may also involve reviewing translated content for accuracy and coherence, applying style guides, and meeting production deadlines.



The Proofreader will contribute directly to maintaining the integrity and readability of published materials.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess strong skills in Spelling and Grammar to ensure language accuracy and consistency.
- Candidates should possess solid Proofreading skills, including attention to detail and the ability to identify and correct errors.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication skills to collaborate with editors, authors, and production teams.
- Candidates should possess basic Translation skills or familiarity with translated content review, as applicable to project needs.
- Candidates should have proficiency in using word processing and publishing tools, and be comfortable working with style guides.
- Candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills, time management, and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
- A diploma or degree in English, Journalism, Publishing, or a related field, or comparable experience in proofreading, is beneficial.
- Prior experience in books, journals, or academic publishing environments will be considered an advantage.
