The research group of Dr. A. Vijayakumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, Loyola College (Autonomous, affiliated to the University of Madras), is inviting applications from highly qualified candidates for Non-funded PhD positions to join our agile team.
Research Areas:
We are at the forefront of interdisciplinary research. Prospective students can work on exciting projects in:
? Nanoscience & Nanomaterial Chemistry: Synthesis, characterization, and application of novel nanomaterials.
? Physical Chemistry: Exploring physicochemical phenomena and kinetics.
? Phytochemistry & Natural Products: Extraction, isolation, and characterization of bioactive compounds from medicinal plants.

Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Chennai for Non-Funded PhD Positions in Chemistry. The role involves conducting research and experiments, developing hypotheses, performing laboratory tasks, and adhering to safety protocols. The successful candidates will work closely with faculty and other researchers, contribute to research publications, and present findings at academic conferences.
Eligibility
- A Master’s degree (MSc/MTech)
in Chemistry/Applied Chemistry/Nanoscience or an MPhil degree.
- A consistent first-class academic record (60% and above or equivalent CGPA).
- Candidates with or without CSIR-UGC NET/JRF/GATE/SET are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
- Laboratory Skills, and Quality Control experience
- Strong Analytical Skills
- Research and Development (R&D;) experience
- Proficiency in conducting independent and collaborative Research
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work on-site in Chennai
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals are a plus
