Job PurposeWe are looking for an experienced and hands-on Mechanical Technician – Pumps, Valves & Machining responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, overhaul and installation of industrial pumps, valves, mechanical seals and associated mechanical equipment.

The candidate should have strong practical knowledge of pump and valve maintenance, mechanical seal replacement, shaft and sleeve machining, and conventional lathe operations. The person should be capable of independently diagnosing mechanical problems and carrying out repairs with minimum supervision.

Key Responsibilities1. Pump Maintenance &

- Repair

- Dismantle, inspect, troubleshoot, repair and reassemble industrial pumps.
- Handle maintenance and overhauling of centrifugal and other process pumps.
- Diagnose pump problems such as leakage, abnormal noise, vibration, overheating, low discharge and pressure loss.
- Replace and repair bearings, shafts, sleeves, bushes, impellers, gaskets and other pump components.
- Carry out pump alignment and ensure proper installation after maintenance.
- Identify root causes of repeated pump failures and recommend corrective action.

Mechanical Seal

Maintenance
- Dismantle and inspect mechanical seals in pumps.
- Diagnose the causes of mechanical seal leakage and premature failure.
- Replace mechanical seals, O-rings, springs, gaskets and other associated components.
- Ensure correct installation, setting and alignment of mechanical seals.
- Inspect pump shafts and sleeves for wear before installing new seals.
- Carry out necessary machining/repair of associated components to ensure proper seal performance.

Valve

Maintenance &

• Repair
- Dismantle, inspect, repair and reassemble industrial valves.
- Work on ball, butterfly, gate, globe, check and other process valves.
- Repair valve leakage and operational problems.
- Replace valve packing, gaskets, stems, seats and other damaged components.
- Carry out valve servicing and preventive maintenance.
- Ensure proper testing and functioning of valves after repair.

4. Lathe & • Machining Work




- Operate conventional lathe machines for mechanical maintenance and repair activities.
- Machine and repair pump shafts, shaft sleeves, bushes, spacers, collars and other components.
- Carry out turning, facing, boring, threading and related machining operations.
- Repair or manufacture basic mechanical components required for plant maintenance.
- Carry out machining of valve stems and other components wherever required.
- Take accurate measurements using vernier calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments.

5. Preventive & • Breakdown Maintenance
- Carry out preventive maintenance of pumps, valves and mechanical equipment as per maintenance schedules.
- Attend mechanical breakdowns promptly and minimize plant downtime.
- Identify abnormal equipment conditions and report them to the Maintenance Manager.
- Maintain records of breakdowns, repairs and replacement of spare parts.
- Assist in developing preventive measures for recurring mechanical failures.

6. Workshop & • General Mechanical Activities
- Perform fitting, drilling, grinding, cutting and other mechanical workshop activities.
- Use hand tools, power tools, pullers and other maintenance equipment safely.
- Assist in basic fabrication and modification work where required.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and organization of the maintenance workshop.
- Ensure proper care and storage of maintenance tools and equipment.

7. Safety & • Compliance
- Follow all plant safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Follow proper equipment isolation and permit-to-work procedures before maintenance activities.
- Ensure safe operation of lathe and other workshop machinery.
- Report unsafe conditions and potential mechanical hazards immediately.
- Follow company procedures related to maintenance, safety and quality.

Educational QualificationPreferred:

- ITI – Fitter / Turner / Machinist
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering will be an added advantage.

Candidates with ITI plus strong relevant industrial experience will also be considered.



Required Experience5–6+ years of relevant hands-on experience in industrial mechanical maintenance.

Experience in any of the following industries will be preferred:

- Edible Oil / Food Processing
- Chemical / Process Industry
- Pharmaceutical
- Refinery
- Manufacturing / Engineering
- Other continuous-process manufacturing plants

Required Technical SkillsThe candidate should have strong hands-on experience in:
- Industrial pump maintenance and overhauling
- Mechanical seal replacement and troubleshooting
- Industrial valve repair and maintenance
- Conventional lathe machine operation
- Shaft and shaft sleeve machining
- Bush and spacer manufacturing/repair
- Pump alignment
- Bearing replacement

- Should be willing to work in rotational shifts and attend emergency breakdowns when required.
- Should be physically fit and comfortable working in a manufacturing plant environment.
- Safety-conscious and disciplined in maintenance practices.

CompensationCTC: ₹4.00 – ₹4.50 LPA Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, technical skills and hands-on expertise.

Ideal Candidate

- The ideal candidate will be a highly hands-on mechanical technician who can independently take a faulty pump or valve, dismantle it, identify the problem, machine or repair the required components on a conventional lathe, replace bearings/seals/other parts, reassemble and align the equipment, and return it to reliable operation with minimum supervision.
