1. Job Purpose:
We are seeking an experienced Manager- Electrical to manage the complete electrical engineering function for a utility-scale Hybrid Renewable Energy Project comprising Solar PV, Wind Power, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), pooling/substation facilities, transmission lines and associated electrical infrastructure.
The Electrical Manager will be responsible for providing end-to-end technical leadership covering electrical system design, engineering calculations, equipment selection, technical specifications, design review, technical document vetting, grid interconnection, protection and control, electrical studies, tender technical evaluation, engineering coordination, construction support, testing & commissioning and technical compliance.
The role will act as the key electrical engineering interface between the owner/developer, EPC contractors, OEMs, consultants, transmission utilities, DISCOM/STU/CTU, grid authorities and other project stakeholders, ensuring that the complete electrical system is technically robust, protected, reliable, compliant with applicable standards/grid requirements and optimised for project performance and cost.
2. Key Responsibilities:
A. Develop, review, and coordinate electrical engineering deliverables for the complete renewable energy project, including Solar PV Layouts, Wind, BESS, pooling/collector systems, substation, and transmission line.
B. Design calculations and sizing of equipment/systems such as Transformer sizing, Cable sizing, Earthing & Lightning protection calculations, illumination calculations, Fault level calculations, Relay settings & co-ordination studies, etc.
C. Establish design criteria, prepare procurement specifications, evaluate bids, and manage contracts for various Electrical equipment like Transformers, Cables, MCC, VFD/Soft starters, motors, etc.
D. Prepare and/or review electrical design calculations, engineering reports, technical specifications, datasheets, design basis documents,
and equipment sizing calculations.
E. Develop and review Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), protection and metering schemes, electrical layouts, cable schedules, load lists, equipment lists, and other electrical engineering drawings.
F. Candidate shall be able to demonstrate the optimised engineering solutions which will comply with the Project estimated BOQ/Cost sheet.
G. Candidate shall be able to review the cable routing, cable tray sizing, earthing routing, lighting system and its circuiting and shall be able to guide team of designers & draftsman for preparation of execution drawings.
H. Review key electrical studies, including:
· Load flow and voltage profile studies
· Short-circuit/fault level studies
· Protection coordination studies
· Reactive power and power factor studies
· Earthing/grounding system studies
· Lightning protection studies
· Harmonic and power-quality studies
· Cable sizing and voltage-drop calculations
· Transformer and auxiliary system sizing
· Grid compliance and power-system studies
I. Coordinate the electrical design interface between Solar, Wind, BESS, pooling substations, grid substations, and transmission systems.
J. Develop/review specifications and technical requirements for major electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, GIS/AIS, CTs/PTs/CVTs, protection and control systems, SCADA/RTU, BESS electrical systems, cables, busbars, reactors/capacitors, and auxiliary power systems.
K. Review technical offers, vendor drawings, datasheets, calculations, and documents for major electrical equipment and provide technical comments/recommendations.
L. Coordinate with OEMs and EPC contractors to ensure equipment designs are compatible with the overall project electrical system and grid requirements.
M. Review and coordinate transmission line electrical design deliverables, including conductor selection, electrical clearances, insulation coordination, earthing, line protection, and associated interface requirements.
N. Coordinate with the substation team on HV/MV systems, protection and control, metering, communication, SCADA, auxiliary systems, and grid interconnection requirements.

Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable IEC/IEEE/IS standards, grid codes, utility requirements, statutory requirements, and project specifications.
P. Review engineering deliverables prepared by consultants/EPC contractors and ensure compliance with approved design criteria and project requirements.
Q. Support preparation and review of IFR/IFA/IFC drawings and documents, as applicable to the project stage.
R. Maintain and track the electrical engineering deliverables register, technical queries, design changes, comments, and document review status.
S. Support grid interconnection and utility approval processes, including preparation/review of technical submissions and responses to utility/grid authority comments.
T. Review method statements, inspection and test plans, FAT/SAT procedures, commissioning procedures, and test reports for electrical systems, where required.
U. Support site teams in resolving electrical engineering issues, deviations, RFIs, and technical queries during construction and commissioning.
V. Participate in factory inspections/FATs, site inspections, testing, energization, and commissioning activities as required.
W. Identify technical risks, design gaps, and potential interface issues and coordinate appropriate mitigation measures.
X. Ensure timely completion of electrical engineering deliverables in accordance with the project schedule and quality requirements.
Y. Maintain proper engineering documentation and ensure that approved design changes are incorporated into relevant drawings and documents.
Z. Support preparation of as-built documentation and final engineering dossiers at project completion.
3. Candidate Profile:
A. Essential Qualification
· Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering college/institute.
· Typically, 6-8 years of relevant experience, with significant experience in hybrid renewable energy projects.
· Strong experience in utility-scale RE project engineering.
B. Key Skills:
· Must have excellent communication skills and be capable of interacting with other Engineering disciplines, construction project managers, and clients.
· Knowledge of doing simulations on software such as PV Syst/ETAP/SKM Power Tools, Dialux etc., will be preferred.
· Should know about IEC/IS/BS/IEEE Standards, Codes, CBIP, CEA Regulations, and IE rules applicable for Solar/Wind/Hybrid/BESS plants.
- · Will be an advantage if experienced in design engineering of substations at voltages of 220 kV, 132 kV, 33 kV.
