Proof of Skill is a venture-backed startup building a protocol for skill verification and credentialing. We are building a trustless way to prove talent to the world, and we need someone to make sure our financial systems are as credible and compliant as the credentials we issue.

We are based in Mumbai and operate an Indian Pvt Ltd and a US entity.

About the role

We are looking for a semi-qualified Chartered Accountant who wants to learn the whole of finance in a startup rather than one slice of it. You will handle day-to-day books and compliance for the Indian entity, support the US entity, and work directly with the founders.

Most people at this stage spend two years on one function. Here you will touch books, compliance, cross-border flows, fundraising and investor reporting.

Responsibilities

- Maintain day-to-day books for the Indian entity and keep records clean and current.
- Prepare and file GST and TDS returns, and track Income Tax and ROC due dates.
- Support monthly closings, bank reconciliations and vendor ledger reconciliations.
- Process vendor payments, employee reimbursements and expense claims with correct TDS and GST treatment.
- Help prepare burn reports, budget versus actual tracking and MIS for the founders.
- Coordinate with our CA and CPA firms so Indian and US filings go out on time.
- Maintain documentation for board resolutions, agreements, invoices and compliance records.
- Support international payments, FX documentation and intercompany invoicing between the Indian and US entities.




- Support fundraising and due diligence by organising documents and data rooms.
- Track software subscriptions and recurring spend, and flag where we are wasting money.

Requirements

- CA Inter cleared (both groups preferred), articleship completed.
- 0 to 2 years of hands-on finance or accounting experience. Articleship counts.
- Practical experience with GST (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, reconciliations) and TDS.
- Comfortable in Excel or Google Sheets, and willing to learn Zoho Books or QuickBooks and Notion.
- Explicit written communication. You will be writing to vendors, auditors and sometimes investors.
- Willingness to learn the US side (Delaware filings, FEMA, transfer pricing). We do not expect you to know it already.
