Preferred Experience: Drymix Mortar, Construction Chemicals, Cement, Building Materials, Tile Adhesives or allied industries To lead the Quality Control function for the Drymix business and ensure consistent, reliable and compliant quality across raw materials, production processes and finished products.
The role will be responsible for establishing robust quality systems, strengthening laboratory and testing capabilities, reducing quality deviations and customer complaints, driving CAPA and continuous improvement, and building a strong quality culture across manufacturing operations.
The incumbent will act as the key quality interface between R&D;, Production, Procurement, Technical Services, Sales and Management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1.
Quality Control
Leadership
- Lead end-to-end QC activities for the Drymix product portfolio.
- Establish and maintain quality standards, specifications, inspection plans and testing protocols.
- Ensure effective control of incoming raw materials, in-process materials and finished products.
- Ensure batch-wise quality clearance and release as per approved specifications.
- Monitor quality trends and proactively identify potential quality risks.

QualityEnsure consistent quality and performance of products including:
- Tile Adhesives
- Block Jointing Mortars
- Wall Putty
- Plasters
- Grouts
- Repair Mortars
- Flooring Products
- Cementitious Waterproofing
- Other Drymix Construction Chemical Products
Monitor critical parameters such as consistency, workability, density, moisture, setting time, water retention, adhesion strength, open time, slip, compressive/flexural strength and other product-specific performance parameters.
- Raw Material Quality Management
- Establish specifications for cement, sand, fillers, polymers, additives, pigments and other critical raw materials.
- Develop supplier quality parameters and incoming inspection standards.
- Review supplier COAs and test results.
- Drive alternate raw-material evaluation in coordination with R&D; and Procurement.
- Establish supplier quality improvement and rejection-reduction initiatives.
4. Process Quality & Manufacturing Excellence
- Establish effective in-process quality controls at every critical stage of manufacturing.
- Ensure adherence to approved formulations, SOPs and process parameters.
- Identify process variation and implement corrective measures.
- Work closely with Production to reduce batch rejection,
rework and process deviations.
- Drive process capability and quality consistency across batches.
5. Quality Systems & Compliance
- Develop and implement SOPs, inspection plans, control plans and quality manuals.
- Ensure compliance with applicable IS/BIS, ASTM, EN and ISO standards.
- Maintain proper documentation, traceability and quality records.
- Lead internal quality audits and support external/customer audits.
- Ensure calibration and preventive maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Strengthen laboratory safety, housekeeping and testing discipline.
6. Customer Complaint & CAPA Management
- Lead investigation of product-quality complaints.
- Conduct structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using appropriate quality tools.
- Implement CAPA and monitor effectiveness.
- Coordinate with Technical, Sales, Production and R&D; teams for complaint closure.
- Analyse recurring complaints and develop preventive quality measures.
- Drive reduction in customer complaints and market returns.
7. Quality Improvement & Cost Reduction
- Drive continuous improvement projects to reduce:
- Batch rejection
- Rework
- Material wastage
- Customer complaints
- Quality-related cost
- Identify opportunities for process optimization without compromising product performance.
- Develop quality dashboards and trend analysis for management review.
- Benchmark product quality against competitors and industry standards.
8. R&D; & New Product Development Support
- Work closely with R&D; during formulation development and product validation.
- Support laboratory trials, pilot batches and commercial-scale validation.
- Establish quality specifications for new products.
- Participate in product benchmarking and performance evaluation.
- Ensure smooth transition of new products from R&D; to commercial production.
9. Laboratory & Testing Infrastructure
- Lead the development and modernization of the Drymix QC laboratory.
- Ensure availability and suitability of testing equipment.
- Establish testing frequency, methods and acceptance criteria.
- Ensure instrument calibration and validation.
- Develop laboratory competency and testing reliability.
10. Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the QC team comprising Managers, Executives, Chemists, Engineers and Lab Technicians.
- Define KRAs, KPIs and performance objectives for the team.
- Build technical capability through regular training and knowledge sharing.
- Promote a culture of ownership, discipline, accuracy and continuous improvement.
- Ensure adequate manpower planning for laboratory and plant QC operations.
11. Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with:
R&D;: Formulation, trials, product development and validation
Production: Process control, batch quality and deviations
Procurement: Supplier quality and raw-material specifications
Technical Services: Application performance and field complaints
Sales & Marketing: Customer feedback and market quality requirements

CANDIDATE PROFILEThe ideal candidate should be a quality leader with solid hands-on experience in Drymix/Construction Chemicals or Building Materials, capable of moving the function from routine inspection to a proactive, data-driven quality-management system. The candidate should demonstrate experience in quality improvement, process standardization, customer complaint reduction, laboratory management, team leadership and cross-functional problem solving.
Preferred Experience: 12–18 years, with at least 4–5 years in a managerial/leadership position within Drymix, Construction Chemicals, Cement, Mortar or Building Materials.
