Purpose • Scope delivery Data Mapping - Offshore Projects, Tenders & FEED
Responsibility • The Data Mapping Engineers in UOE are responsible for Primary tasks listed below.
Success criteria • Technical knowledge related to cable installation such as survey, cable installation and seabed intervention technologies & tools.
B: TASKS
Primary tasks of Senior Data Mapping Engineer
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Lead the development, enhancement, and standardization of Data & Mapping processes, methodologies, and digital tools to support key business functions across the organization, including Proposals, Engineering, Project Installation, and Service & Repair.
- Serve as the technical authority for the assessment, validation, and quality assurance of geospatial and survey data received from clients, contractors, party suppliers, ensuring data integrity, Data Validation and suitability for engineering and project execution activities
- Oversee the management, integration, and governance of complex datasets, including bathymetric, side-scan sonar, UXO, sub-bottom profiler, MAG, and other marine survey data, ensuring compliance with project and organizational requirements.
- Drive the consolidation, maintenance, and optimization of geospatial databases and data repositories, ensuring efficient access, traceability, and data consistency, across projects.
- Provide advanced geospatial intelligence and data-driven insights to internal and external stakeholders through GIS platforms, charts, spatial databases, dashboards, and technical reporting.
- Lead the production and quality review of AutoCAD drawings, engineering visualizations, and mapping deliverables supporting offshore cable installation projects,
including dredging activities, rock placement, cable installation, HDD interfaces,
cable and pipeline crossings, and other seabed intervention works.
- Utilize and continuously improve GIS, Navi model, AutoCAD, Models & Tools and related geospatial technologies to support cable route engineering, micro-routing optimization, risk assessment, and seabed hazard analysis based on geological, geophysical, and topographical data.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives within the Data & Mapping function by identifying opportunities for automation, process optimization, digital transformation, and best-practice implementation.
- Collaborate with Project Installation Managers, Engineering teams, and Clients to define project-specific Data & Mapping deliverables, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements and project objectives, including as-built drawings, GIS databases, route charts, and technical documentation.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers, promoting high standards of data quality, technical excellence, and career development within the team.
- Support offshore validation, and management of Daily Progress Reports (DPRs) and operational data within the ORAT database and related systems.
- Lead the management, validation, and archiving of as laid and as-built offshore installation data, ensuring accurate integration into corporate databases and delivery of final project documentation.
- Act as a key interface between engineering,
installation, survey, and client teams,
ensuring effective communication of technical data, project progress, and geospatial information throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, industry regulations, quality management systems, and data governance requirements related to geospatial data management and offshore engineering projects.

C: QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
Education/ Other mandatory courses
- Hydrographic Survey
- Geomatics'
- Marine Engineering or similar
- Minimum BSc (preferably minimum 8 years’ experience within similar position)
Experience • Marine Engineering, Hydrographic Survey
- CAD, Navi Model and GIS
- Project experience
Languages • Fluent English
- (additional languages are an advantage)
IT • Navi Model
- GIS software
- Microsoft Office Software
- Programming Knowledge E. g. Python will be added advantage
