ABOUT THE ROLE The Associate QS Estimator role combines office-based quantity estimation with hands-on site exposure. You will read structural and architectural drawings, take off quantities, prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and cost estimates, and support the design team in AutoCAD, while also visiting project sites for non-destructive testing, inspections and structural assessments. It is an excellent opportunity to build a solid working command of drawings, measurements and estimation - the foundation of every construction and retrofitting project.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

▪ Take off quantities from structural and architectural drawings for RCC elements including footings, columns, beams and slabs, as well as repair and retrofitting works.

▪ Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQ), quantity sheets and cost estimates using standard measuring units and methods of measurement (IS 1200).

▪ Carry out manual and spreadsheet-based calculations for concrete and steel quantities, bar bending schedules, areas, volumes and rate build-ups.

▪ Assist in preparing quotations,



abstracts of cost and comparative statements for client proposals.

▪ Read and interpret structural and architectural drawings, including plans, sections, elevations, schedules and typical details.

▪ Prepare and modify drawings, sketches and markups using Autodesk AutoCAD as instructed by senior engineers.

▪ Check drawings for consistency of dimensions, units and notations before quantity take-off.

▪ Visit project sites for non-destructive testing (NDT), structural inspections and condition assessments.

▪ Take and systematically record site measurements for as-built quantities, running bills and verification of executed work.

▪ Assist in recording test results, site observations and photographs for project reports.

▪ Maintain organised and traceable calculation sheets, measurement books and estimate files for each project.

▪ Support the team in preparing reports, progress updates and client correspondence.
