Position Summary The Analyst I - BI Development is responsible for designing, delivering, documenting, and continuously improving trusted analytics products that support the operational effectiveness of the Human Resources Group. This role owns higher-complexity solutions from discovery and requirements definition through data preparation, semantic modeling, visualization, release, adoption, ongoing support, and retirement.

The Analyst I - BI Development partners with HR Analytics leaders, business analysts, and subject matter experts to translate business questions into governed metrics, scalable data models, intuitive dashboards, automated analytical workflows, and clear technical and user documentation. The role operates with a high degree of independence, leads major deliverables or workstreams, resolves ambiguity, mentors less experienced team members, and manages HR analytics stakeholder expectations.

Responsibilities

Senior-Level Ownership &

- Delivery Leadership

- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of higher-complexity analytics products, from discovery and solution design through development, deployment, adoption, ongoing support, enhancement, and retirement.
- Lead major deliverables or workstreams with limited oversight, translating ambiguous stakeholder needs into transparent scope, success measures, requirements, technical outputs, delivery plans, and recommendations.
- Manage product backlogs, communicate scope and tradeoffs, demonstrate progress, and balance new development with reliability, production support, and technical-debt reduction.
- Identify delivery risks, data limitations, technical dependencies, and stakeholder-alignment issues early and recommend practical mitigation actions.
- Review deliverables before release for technical accuracy, usability, data quality, governance alignment, stakeholder readiness, operational supportability, and business value.
- Mentor less experienced team members through technical guidance, peer review, coaching, and reinforcement of documentation, testing, and development standards.

BI Development &

- Analytics Products

- Design, develop, test, publish, maintain, and continuously improve governed dashboards, scorecards, reports, analytical applications, and self-service analytics solutions in Power BI.
- Apply the approved analytics design system, including established standards for layout, navigation, typography, visual hierarchy, color, accessibility, interaction patterns, and reusable components; obtain approval before introducing exceptions.




- Create reusable BI components, templates, measures, and solution patterns that improve consistency, scalability, and development efficiency.
- Perform complex ad hoc analysis and convert recurring requests into scalable, automated, and maintainable analytics products when appropriate.
- Monitor product adoption, gather stakeholder feedback, and improve solutions to increase usability, trust, and business value.

Data Preparation, Modeling &

- Quality

- Develop and optimize analytical datasets, dimensional models, and semantic models in BigQuery to provide consistent, reusable, understandable, and performant business metrics.
- Write advanced SQL to transform, combine, validate, reconcile, and analyze large or complex datasets while optimizing performance, maintainability, and cloud costs.
- Use Python and pandas to profile, cleanse, reshape, validate, reconcile, and analyze data and to automate repeatable data-preparation, quality, and reporting processes.
- Partner with data analysts, data architects, and the Data Office to ensure analytical datasets and models support approved business requirements and BI use cases.
- Establish testing and monitoring for data accuracy, completeness, timeliness, consistency, and usability.
- Investigate data and reporting defects, identify root causes, document findings, and implement or coordinate durable corrective actions.

Stakeholder Partnership &

- Requirements

- Partner with Business Analysts during discovery to clarify business questions, reporting needs, required metrics, solution design, and success measures.
- Define or support acceptance criteria, user acceptance testing, demonstrations, training materials, release communications, and adoption activities.
- Communicate delivery status, risks, assumptions, dependencies, data limitations, and timelines clearly to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Documentation, Governance &

- Production Readiness

- Maintain clear documentation for data sources, metric definitions, calculation logic, lineage, semantic models, dashboard functionality, assumptions, known limitations, testing, deployment, and support procedures.
- Use only approved, governed metrics in analytics products and align business definitions, calculation logic, and terminology with the appropriate Data Stewards before release.
- Apply established standards for version control, peer review, modular development, testing, deployment, release management, documentation, security, privacy, and data retention.




- Protect confidential HR and workforce information through approved access controls, data-handling practices, security requirements, and privacy and compliance standards.

AI-Enabled Productivity &

- Responsible Analytics

- Use approved AI-enabled tools to accelerate development activities such as draft SQL and DAX patterns, calculation logic, documentation, metadata summaries, test scenarios, quality checks, and report narrative drafts.
- Validate all AI-assisted outputs for technical accuracy, completeness, bias, business context, data sensitivity, and governance alignment before use or release.
- Follow responsible AI, privacy, security, and HR-data handling requirements, including restrictions on entering sensitive information into unapproved tools.

Education &

- Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of relevant experience developing business intelligence, analytics, data products, or decision-support solutions.
- Experience leading a defined workstream, analysis, product, technical deliverable, process improvement, reporting solution, or change initiative with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring others, improving team standards, or contributing to repeatable methods, documentation, templates, or quality practices.

Must Have Skills

- Experience using Python and pandas for data preparation, validation, analysis, and automation.
- Demonstrated experience using advanced SQL and working with large, complex, or cloud-based analytical datasets.
- Experience with advanced Power BI capabilities, including DAX, semantic models, reusable measures, deployment pipelines, and performance optimization.

Nice To Have Skills

- Experience with HR, workforce, talent, payroll, employee relations, shared services, or HR operations data.
- Experience with enterprise HR and workforce platforms such as Workday, Oracle HCM, PeopleSoft, or ServiceNow HR Service Delivery.
- Experience with Git, code review, automated testing, release management, Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, or comparable delivery tools.
- Prior experience in healthcare, a global capability center, shared services, or another highly regulated environment.

Licenses, Certifications &

- Training

- Required: None
- Preferred: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate, SQL certification, cloud data fundamentals certification, or equivalent BI/analytics training.
- Preferred: Responsible AI, data privacy, data governance, or HR data handling training.
