JOB DESCRIPTION SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGER

Industry: Aerospace / Defence / MRO / Precision Engineering | Experience: 10–15+ years | Qualification: B.E./B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical/Production/Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain; MBA preferred.

Role Summary

Lead end-to-end supply chain for aerospace tooling, precision components, fabricated parts, assemblies and outsourced manufacturing. Own strategic sourcing, supplier development, procurement, capacity planning, cost control, delivery performance, supplier quality coordination and risk management.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop sourcing strategies for aerospace tooling, CNC machined parts, sheet metal, fabricated assemblies, special processes and outsourced manufacturing.
- Identify, qualify and develop suppliers based on technical capability, quality, capacity, cost, delivery and compliance.
- Manage procurement, subcontracting, make-or-buy support, negotiations, purchase orders and long-term supplier relationships.
- Drive supplier audits, capability assessments, alternate sourcing, capacity improvement and supplier development plans with Quality/Engineering.
- Ensure timely material and process availability by tracking supplier progress, resolving delays and coordinating logistics.
- Support supplier quality, RCA, CAPA, traceability and compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP and customer requirements.
- Identify supply-chain risks, long-lead items and bottlenecks; implement mitigation and contingency plans.

Required Skills

- Strong experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier development, supplier qualification, contract management and SRM.




- Technical knowledge of aerospace manufacturing, CNC machining, EDM/Wire EDM, sheet metal fabrication, welding, forging, casting, heat treatment, plating, anodizing, NDT and special processes.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand GD&T;, tolerances, material specifications, manufacturing processes and technical quotations.
- Knowledge of supplier audits, RCA, 8D, CAPA, NCR handling, FAI awareness and inspection/test documentation.
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI/data analytics, cost analysis and supplier database management.

Experience

10–15+ years in supply chain, procurement, strategic sourcing or supplier development, preferably in aerospace, defence, MRO, tooling, precision engineering, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication or special-process manufacturing. Domestic/international supplier management experience preferred.

Overall Responsibility

Build and manage a reliable, technically capable and cost-competitive aerospace supplier ecosystem supporting tooling, precision components, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, MRO, special processes, assemblies and NPD.
