Looker BI Engineer-India Remote

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Looker BI Engineer. In this role, you will not just build dashboards. You will partner directly with Product, QA, and Engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into robust LookML models, perform end-to-end testing, and support seamless deployments.

You will also leverage modern AI coding tools, specifically Claude Code, to accelerate development, write LookML tests, troubleshoot queries, and maintain clear technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

- Looker & LookML Development: Design, develop, and maintain complex Looker Explores, LookML models, and executive/operational dashboards.
- Product & QA Collaboration: Work closely with Product Managers, Data Engineers, and QA Engineers to clarify requirements, identify edge cases, and ensure data models align with business and product requirements.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough developer testing before QA handoff. Write, maintain, and execute automated LookML data tests to prevent regressions and maintain data integrity.
- Problem Solving:



Identify technical blockers early and proactively propose solutions, workarounds, and action plans.
- AI-Assisted Development: Use Claude Code or similar AI development tools for LookML generation, refactoring, query troubleshooting, test creation, and documentation.
- Technical Documentation: Maintain structured documentation for LookML architecture, metric definitions, Explore user guides, and testing procedures.

Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Looker Engineer.
- Strong proficiency in Looker and LookML, including views, models, Explores, Liquid syntax, and derived tables.
- Strong experience developing performant and user-friendly Looker dashboards and visualizations.
- Hands-on experience with Claude Code or similar AI/LLM development tools.
- Experience writing LookML data tests and performing structured developer QA.
- Solid SQL skills, including joins, aggregations, window functions, and query performance tuning.
- Strong problem-solving, ownership, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

Nice to Have
- Experience working with Snowflake as a cloud data warehouse.
