Senior Backend Software Engineer Backend Development

Role Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines. This is a hands-on role in which the engineer owns both backend development and QA for their work. Designing and executing testsincluding automation testingis a mandatory part of the role, not a responsibility delegated to a separate QA team.

Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain reliable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines using Python and SQL.
Translate business requirements into technical solutions, define acceptance criteria, and make design decisions for backend systems.
Own QA for the backend functionality you develop: plan test scenarios, execute functional and integration testing, document defects, and validate fixes.
Design, write, and maintain automated unit, integration, API, and regression tests for critical backend workflows.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, investigate test failures, and verify readiness before release.
Review code and tests,



improve system performance and reliability, and mentor junior engineers.

Required Qualifications:
69 years of software engineering experience, primarily in backend development.
Solid hands-on experience with Python, advanced SQL, API development, and backend system design.
Hands-on backend test automation experience is mandatory, including creating and maintaining automated tests with a framework such as PyTest, Selenium, Playwright, etc.
Experience independently performing QA for backend services, including test planning, execution, defect tracking, and release validation.
Experience running automated tests in Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or a similar CI/CD platform.
Ability to diagnose defects, resolve root causes, and add regression tests that prevent recurrence.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with distributed systems, database optimization, and performance or load testing.
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and products involving LLMs, RAG, or AI agents.
