Job Summary

Job Description – Migration IaaS Engineer + Windows

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities: Target IaaS Provisioning: Deploy and configure target cloud infrastructure (Azure VMs, GCP Compute, Managed Disks, Network Interfaces, and Availability Sets/Zones) to receive migrating workloads. Migration Execution: Install mobility agents, configure replication appliances, and execute data synchronization using tools like Azure Migrate, ASR, or GCP Migrate for Compute. Pre-Migration OS Prep: Audit and prepare source Windows Servers for migration (e.g., verifying disk layouts, checking VSS writers, and resolving pending reboot states). Post-Migration Remediation: Execute critical post-cutover tasks, including uninstalling legacy hypervisor integration tools (VMware Tools), removing ghost NICs, and installing Azure/GCP native monitoring agents. L3 OS Troubleshooting: Act as the ultimate resolver for post-migration Windows OS failures, diagnosing BSODs, boot-loop issues, driver incompatibilities, and registry corruption. Scripting & Automation: Author and execute PowerShell scripts to automate bulk post-migration configurations, such as joining domains, changing IP configurations, or mapping storage drives. Cutover Support: Actively participate in weekend or after-hours migration cutover bridges, executing step-by-step technical runbooks alongside the Migration Lead.

Skill Requirements

Must have Skills: Technical: 8+ years of core Wintel experience with deep administrative knowledge of Windows Server OS architecture, file systems, and registry internals. 3+ years of hands-on experience provisioning and managing Cloud IaaS workloads in Microsoft Azure or GCP.



Proven practical experience executing migrations using Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery (ASR), or third-party replication tools (Zerto, Carbonite). Strong background in on-premises virtualization (VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V) to understand source-workload dependencies. Advanced proficiency in PowerShell scripting for OS automation and cloud resource management (Az module). Solid understanding of cloud networking fundamentals (Subnets, NSGs, Private IPs, DNS resolution). Non-Technical Runbook Discipline: Exceptional attention to detail when executing step-by-step technical migration runbooks during highly visible outage windows. RCA & Diagnostics: Strong analytical capabilities to perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on failed replication jobs or corrupted VM boot sequences. ITSM Operations: Experience working within strict ITIL Change Management frameworks and logging cutover activities in ServiceNow. Team Collaboration: Ability to work seamlessly with Network, Database, and Security teams to unblock migration traffic or resolve firewall issues.

Other Requirements

Positive to Have Skills: Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployment tools like Terraform, Bicep, or ARM Templates. Familiarity with modernizing legacy Windows workloads to Windows Server Core or Azure PaaS (App Services). Basic understanding of Linux OS migrations to provide cross-platform assistance if needed.



Soft Skills: High-Pressure Execution: Ability to stay calm, focused, and technically precise during intense weekend migration cutovers. Problem-Solving Agility: Quick thinking to apply workarounds or execute rollback procedures when unforeseen OS issues arise in the cloud. Clear Communication: Ability to communicate technical roadblocks clearly to the Migration Lead and PMO. Certifications: AZ-104 or AZ-800, GCP Associate Cloud Engineer, ITIL v4 Foundation.
