Job OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Research Scientist to join our Research & Development (R&D;) team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for routine and non-routine analytical testing using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), sample preparation, wet chemistry testing, and documentation. This is an ideal position for fresh graduates or junior scientists looking to build a solid career in pharmaceutical quality testing and process chemistry.
Key Responsibilities
- Chromatographic Analysis: Perform Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) to monitor reaction progress, check raw material purity, identify unknown compounds, and analyze final drug intermediates/APIs.
- Sample & Reagent Preparation: Prepare mobile phases, reagents, standard solutions, and sample solutions accurately following established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Derivatization & Detection: Apply appropriate visualization methods (UV detection, iodine staining, chemical sprays, heat treatment) to observe and record chromatographic results.
- Data Documentation: Calculate $R_f$ (Retention Factor) values, document experimental observations, write lab notebook entries, and prepare analytical reports in compliance with cGMP/GLP standards.
- Routine Analytical Testing: Conduct standard wet lab tests (e.g., pH measurement,
loss on drying, titrations, melting point determinations) alongside TLC tasks.
- Instrument Maintenance: Clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and maintain inventory for silica plates, solvents, and reagents.
- Laboratory Safety: Adhere strictly to laboratory safety regulations, hazardous material handling guidelines, and safe disposal procedures.
Qualifications & Key Requirements
- Education: M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, or a B.Pharm / M.Pharm degree.
- Experience: Open to Freshers or candidates with up to 2 years of experience in a pharmaceutical analytical or R&D; laboratory setting.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Solid theoretical and practical understanding of chromatographic techniques (TLC, column chromatography basics).
- Knowledge of functional group identification and visualization reagents (e.g., KMnO₄, Ninhydrin, Vanillin).
- Familiarity with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Skills:
- Strong precision, attention to detail, and visual observation skills.
- Basic proficiency in computer applications (MS Office, Word, Excel).
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills (Bonus)
- Exposure to additional analytical techniques like HPLC, GC, or UV-Vis spectroscopy.
- Prior internship or project work focused on chemical synthesis or drug analysis.
Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹43,000.00 per month
