Job Title: Retail Cashier
Department: Retail Operations / Store Operations
Location: Outlet / Retail Store - Vadodara
Reporting To: Store Manager / Outlet Manager

Job Summary

The Retail Cashier is responsible for handling customer billing, cash and digital payments, POS operations, daily cash reconciliation, and customer service while ensuring accurate and smooth checkout operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Billing & POS Operations
- Generate accurate bills for all customer purchases.
- Operate POS/billing software efficiently.
- Ensure correct product, quantity, price, discount and tax entries.
- Process cancellations, returns and corrections only as per company policy.
- Ensure every sale is properly billed—no unbilled sales.
- Cash & Payment Handling
- Collect cash, UPI, cards and other approved payment methods.
- Verify cash received and provide the correct change.
- Maintain proper custody of cash during the shift.
- Ensure payment transactions are correctly recorded in the billing system.
- Report any cash shortage/excess immediately to the Store Manager.
- Daily Cash Reconciliation
- Match physical cash and digital collections with the POS closing report.
- Prepare/submit daily cashier closing reports.
- Hand over cash and documents according to company procedure.
- Maintain proper records of all payment transactions.
- Customer Service
- Greet customers politely and professionally.
- Assist customers with basic product, pricing and billing queries.
- Handle billing-related complaints calmly and escalate issues to the Store Manager when required.
- Maintain a positive customer experience at the billing counter.
- Product & Sales Support
- Verify product names, quantities and prices while billing.




- Coordinate with the sales team regarding product availability and billing issues.
- Ensure applicable promotional offers and discounts are entered correctly.
- Support customer-data collection through the company's approved system, wherever applicable.
- Counter Management
- Keep the billing counter clean, organized and qualified.
- Maintain adequate change, receipt rolls and other billing materials.
- Ensure no unauthorized person operates the cashier/POS terminal.
- Protect customer and company information.
- Compliance & Discipline
- Follow all company SOPs, cashier policies and financial-control procedures.
- Follow prescribed uniform and grooming standards.
- Maintain punctuality and proper shift discipline.
- Immediately report suspected billing errors, fraudulent transactions or irregularities to management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Minimum 12th pass preferred; graduate candidates may be preferred for senior positions.
- Previous experience in retail cashiering, supermarket, sweets/namkeen, QSR, restaurant or FMCG retail is preferred.
- Basic computer and POS knowledge.
- Good numerical and calculation skills.
- Basic knowledge of cash, UPI, card payments and digital transactions.
- Good communication and customer-handling skills.
- Honest, responsible and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work in shifts, weekends and during festive seasons.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹24,000.00 per month
