About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and technically strong Technical Manager to lead the technical operations of our Building Materials Testing Laboratory.

The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in construction material testing, laboratory management, NABL/ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, test methods, equipment, technical documentation and quality control.

The candidate will be responsible for ensuring that laboratory testing is technically competent, accurate, reliable and carried out in accordance with applicable IS, ASTM, BS, MoRTH, CPWD and other relevant standards.

Key Responsibilities1. Technical Management

- Overall responsibility for day-to-day technical operations of the laboratory.
- Plan, supervise and monitor laboratory testing activities.
- Ensure tests are performed strictly as per approved test methods, relevant standards and laboratory SOPs.
- Review test results, calculations, worksheets and technical reports before release.
- Identify technical issues, investigate abnormal results and ensure corrective actions.
- Maintain consistency, accuracy and traceability of test results.

2. NABL / ISO/IEC 17025

- Maintain technical compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements.
- Support the laboratory's NABL accreditation and surveillance/assessment activities.
- Maintain technical records, test methods, SOPs, formats and quality records.




- Coordinate method verification/validation, measurement uncertainty and quality-control activities wherever applicable.
- Participate in internal audits, proficiency testing/inter-laboratory comparisons and corrective/preventive actions.
- Ensure calibration and intermediate checks of laboratory equipment are properly planned and recorded.

3. Building Materials Testing

The candidate should have strong knowledge of testing of construction materials, particularly:

Soil Basic Tests, Soil - Advance Tests Like C and Phi, Consolidation Etc
Concrete, Cement, Aggregate, Admixtures, AAC Blocks and Bricks, Bituminous Materials. Knowledge of chemical testing will be an advantage. The laboratory scope includes chemical testing of Cement, Admixture, Water etc

Candidate Profile

Essential:

- 5+ years of relevant experience in a construction-material testing laboratory.
- Solid practical knowledge of IS codes and laboratory test procedures.
- Experience handling laboratory technicians and testing activities.
- Good understanding of NABL / ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
- Ability to independently review test results and technical reports.
- Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to identify technical errors and implement corrective actions.
- Good knowledge of laboratory equipment, calibration and maintenance requirements.

Preferred:





- Previous experience as Technical Manager / Technical Head / Laboratory In-charge / Senior Technical Engineer.
- Experience in a NABL-accredited testing laboratory.
- Experience in NABL assessments, internal audits and technical audits.
- Knowledge of MoRTH, CPWD, BIS/IS and ASTM standards.
- Experience with concrete, aggregate, cement, soil, bitumen and other construction-material testing.
- Experience in preparation/review of test reports and technical documentation.
- Experience in developing or implementing laboratory SOPs.
