Shift Supervisor – Job Description

Position: Shift Supervisor

Key Responsibilities

- Shift Production
- Manage and supervise production activities during the assigned shift.
- Ensure daily production targets are achieved.
- Allocate manpower according to machines and production requirements.
- Monitor machine performance and production output.
- Manpower Management
- Supervise operators, helpers, and other production workers.
- Ensure proper attendance and discipline during the shift.
- Allocate duties and responsibilities to workers.
- Handle manpower shortages and coordinate with HR/management when required.
- Cable Manufacturing Operations
- Supervise production processes such as stranding, bunching, laying, insulation, extrusion, armouring, and other cable manufacturing activities, depending on the assigned section.
- Ensure machines are operated according to production requirements.
- Coordinate with maintenance in case of machine breakdowns.
- Quality Control
- Ensure production is carried out according to quality standards.
- Check for production defects and take immediate corrective action.
- Coordinate with the Quality Department regarding quality issues.
- Ensure proper identification and segregation of rejected material.
- Safety & Discipline




- Ensure workers follow all safety rules and use required PPE.
- Maintain discipline and proper housekeeping in the production area.
- Report accidents, unsafe conditions, or safety violations to management.
- Production Reporting
- Maintain shift-wise production records.
- Prepare reports for production quantity, rejection, downtime, manpower, and machine performance.
- Handover key production information to the next shift supervisor.
- Coordination
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, Electrical, and HR departments.
- Ensure raw materials are available for continuous production.
- Communicate production problems to the Production Manager/Plant Head.

Required Skills

- Experience in cable manufacturing or electrical manufacturing industry preferred.
- Knowledge of production processes and machines.
- Good manpower-handling and leadership skills.
- Basic knowledge of Excel and production reporting.
- Problem-solving ability.
- Knowledge of workplace safety and quality procedures.
- Ability to work in rotational shifts.

Qualification & Experience

Qualification: ITI / Diploma / Graduate preferred.
Experience: 2–5 years in production supervision, preferably in a cable manufacturing plant.

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹46,000.00 per month
