The Patient Counsellor plays a key role in guiding patients through their eye care journey by providing information, emotional support, and counseling regarding eye conditions, diagnostic procedures, treatment options, and surgeries. The counsellor helps patients make informed decisions, improves treatment acceptance, and ensures a positive patient experience.

- Explain eye conditions, diagnostic tests, treatment plans, and surgical procedures in a simple and understandable manner
- Counsel patients and attendants regarding pre-operative and post-operative care
- Address patient concerns, fears, and questions empathetically
- Coordinate between doctors, nurses, optometrists, and administrative staff
- Assist patients with appointment scheduling, investigations, admissions, and discharges
- Ensure smooth patient flow within the hospital
- Verify patients’ insurance coverage before admission,



procedures, or outpatient services.
- Coordinate with the billing department to ensure accurate claim submission
- Review claims for errors or missing documentation
- Follow up on pending, rejected, or denied claims.
- Prepare and submit pre-authorization requests to insurance companies/TPAs
- Follow up with insurers for approvals, queries, and clarifications
- Maintain accurate patient insurance records and documentation
- Handle cashless and reimbursement cases

Skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Empathy and patient-centered approach
- Ability to explain medical information in simple language
- Multilingual skills preferred
- Basic computer knowledge

Experience

- 1–2 years of experience in a hospital
- Freshers with strong communication skills may be considered

. Education

- Bachelor’s degree ( Psychology, counseling, social work, or education)
- Master’s degree in Counseling or Psychology
- B.Sc or M.Sc in Optometry

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
