About BownBee

Established in 2015, BownBee is a leading kidswear brand specialising in traditional and Indo-western apparel. We are looking for an experienced Freelance Apparel/Garment Designer who can independently drive the design process and bring fresh, trend-led ideas to our kidswear collections.

Key Responsibilities

1. Trend Forecasting & Research

- Research fashion trends, colours, fabrics, prints, silhouettes and themes relevant to kidswear.
- Develop mood boards, inspiration boards and trend presentations.
- Conduct competitor and market research to identify new design opportunities.
- Translate trends into commercially viable kidswear concepts.

2. Collection & Design Development

- Develop new designs and collections for kids' traditional and Indo-western wear.
- Create design concepts, colour stories, themes and range presentations.
- Develop and maintain design details in line with the approved collection direction.
- Ensure consistency between mood boards, design concepts and final products.
- Create or coordinate sketches, technical details and tech packs as required.

3. Sampling & Product Development

- Coordinate with sampling teams and vendors for sample development.
- Provide clear design inputs and feedback during the sampling process.
- Review samples for design, fit, measurements, finishing and overall look.




- Coordinate revisions and ensure designs are developed as per requirements.

4. Fabric, Trim & Vendor Coordination

- Source and recommend suitable fabrics, trims, embellishments and accessories.
- Coordinate with vendors for sampling and production requirements.
- Support cost discussions and ensure designs remain commercially viable.
- Follow up with vendors to ensure timely development and quality.

Requirements

- 5+ years of experience in fashion/apparel designing, preferably in kidswear ethnic wear.
- Degree/Diploma in Fashion Designing or a related field.
- Strong understanding of kidswear, size & fit, fabrics and garment construction.
- Experience in developing tech packs and coordinating sample development.
- Strong trend forecasting and market research skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator or similar design tools.
- Strong creative and visual sense with attention to detail.
- Valuable communication and vendor coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage projects within timelines.
- A strong portfolio showcasing relevant apparel/kidswear work is preferred.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a designer who can independently own design projects from trend research and concept development to sampling and finalisation, while bringing a strong understanding of the kidswear market.
