Key Responsibilities
A. Financial Control, Accounting & Compliance
- Own timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual closing of books of accounts.
- Prepare MIS reports, budget vs. actual variance analysis, and financial dashboards for the Management/Board.
- Ensure statutory compliance — GST, TDS, Income Tax, Companies Act provisions, ROC filings, and other regulatory filings.
- Coordinate and manage statutory audit, internal audit, tax audit, and any regulatory inspections; ensure clean, qualification-free audit reports.
- Design, implement, and continuously strengthen Internal Financial Controls (IFC) and SOPs across finance and cross-functional processes.
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and general ledger accuracy.
- Ensure accurate cost accounting and profitability analysis by product line / business unit / project.
B. Treasury & Fund Management (Core Differentiator of this Role)
- Prepare and monitor daily, weekly, and rolling 13-week cash flow forecasts across all business units.
- Manage relationships with banks and financial institutions — working capital limits (CC/OD), term loans, LC/BG facilities, and renewals.
- Ensure zero idle cash: proactively identify surplus funds and deploy them into approved instruments (fixed deposits, liquid/debt mutual funds, treasury bills, sweep accounts) in line with the company's risk and liquidity policy.
- Evaluate investment options on a risk-return-liquidity basis and present recommendations with clear rationale to Management for approval before deployment.
- Monitor investment portfolio performance periodically and rebalance as per changing cash flow needs or market conditions.
- Actively manage the debt book — loan servicing schedules, interest cost tracking, and refinancing/renegotiation opportunities to reduce cost of borrowing.
- Track and improve the working capital cycle — receivables collection, payables optimization, and inventory financing costs.
- Ensure funds are always available for capex, statutory dues, payroll, and vendor payments without last-minute arrangements or emergency borrowing.
- Maintain and enforce a Fund Investment & Approval Policy — defined instrument limits, counterparty limits, and sign-off matrix — to prevent unauthorized or high-risk fund deployment.
- Provide monthly Treasury MIS to Management: fund position, investment book, returns earned, borrowing cost, and covenant compliance status.
C. Financial Planning, Risk & Advisory
- Support the annual budgeting and financial planning process across business units.
- Conduct financial risk assessment for current investments, capex proposals, and business expansion plans.
- Advise Management on cost optimization, capital allocation, and financing structure (debt vs. internal accruals).
- Benchmark and negotiate with banks/NBFCs for better interest rates on both borrowings and fund parking instruments.
- Flag financial and liquidity risks proactively to Management, along with mitigation recommendations.
Must-Haves (Key Skills & Competencies)
- Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) – CPA / ACCA also considered.
- 8–12 years of overall finance experience, with a minimum of 3–4 years specifically in treasury, cash management, or fund/investment management (not accounting alone).
- Sound understanding of investment instruments (fixed deposits, liquid/debt mutual funds, treasury bills, sweep facilities) and their risk-return characteristics.
- Banking and financial institution negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and sound financial judgment.
- High personal integrity — this role carries fiduciary responsibility over company funds.
- Ability to present financial recommendations clearly to Management/Board.
- Team leadership and cross-functional coordination skills.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- No cash flow mismatches or emergency/last-minute fund arrangements during the year.
- Idle fund days minimized; measurable returns generated on surplus funds parked/invested.
- Cost of borrowing reduced or optimized year-on-year.
- Books closed within defined timelines each month (e.g., within 5–7 working days) with clean audit reports (no material qualifications).
- Improvement in working capital cycle days (DSO, DPO, DIO) year-on-year.
- 100% adherence to the Fund Investment & Approval Policy with zero unauthorized deployments.
