Job Overview

We are looking for skilled and safety-conscious Centre Lathe Turners to join our production and manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating manual centre lathe machines to produce precision components according to technical engineering drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

- Machine Operation & Setup: Set up and operate manual/conventional centre lathe machines to perform turning, facing, threading, grooving, boring, and tapering operations.
- Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret technical engineering drawings, blueprints, and job cards to determine dimensions and tolerances.
- Tooling & Fixtures: Select, sharpen, and set appropriate cutting tools, tool inserts, tool holders, chucks, and work-holding fixtures.
- Material & Part Inspection: Inspect raw materials before machining and measure finished components using vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and height gauges to ensure adherence to specified tolerances.
- Process Control:



Set appropriate spindle speeds, feed rates, and depth of cut based on material types (e.g., mild steel, stainless steel, brass, aluminum).
- Maintenance & Safety: Perform routine preventive maintenance on machines (coolant top-up, daily lubrication, cleaning) and strictly follow shop-floor safety protocols.

Key Requirements & Skills

- Hand-on experience operating conventional/manual centre lathe machines.
- Basic understanding of engineering drawings and measurement symbols.
- Proficiency in using manual measuring instruments (Vernier Caliper, Outside/Inside Micrometer).
- Good knowledge of cutting tools, tool angles, and grinding/resharpening lathe tools.
- Strong attention to detail, precision, and shop-floor discipline.
